I rollover in bed reaching out for Gerald, only to met with more blankets. I rub my eyes, sitting up slightly and looking around the room. The bright L.A sunshine was already forcing its way around the curtains, burning my tired eyes. "Ugh, what time is it? It can't be too late.." I mumble, grabbing my phone off the night stand. "12:27" it reads. "Oh what the fuck. How did I sleep for so long?"

The bedroom door opens quietly as Gerald takes a small step in. "Oh, I didn't wake you did I? I was just coming to give you some water." He raises the glass in his right hand towards me. "Not at all! I just didn't realize it was so late, I'm sorry I slept in." "Hey, no need to apologize. After the night you had, you needed all the sleep you could get." Gerald smiles and sits down on the edge of the bed next to me, handing me the water. I graciously accept it, downing it in a matter of seconds. "Sorry, I felt like I haven't had anything to drink in about 37 years." I laugh, setting the glass down and pushing myself up out of bed.

"I should really get going, I've imposed enough." He gets out of bed, and gently grabs my hand. "Lily, you have not imposed at all. Let me make you brunch. I do make killer pancakes." He says with a wink, and gives my hand a slight squeeze. "Okay, okay." I giggle, "But before I eat I really need to brush my teeth and my hair. Do you have like a spare toothbrush I could use or anything?" He nods gesturing to the bathroom. "It's all in the closet in there. Help yourself." He smiles and lets go of my hand. "Alright, I'm going to go start breakfast. See you in a few"

I smile, and head into the bathroom. I glance at myself in the mirror, cringing slightly. "I look like such a mess, good god." I open the door to bathroom closet, scanning the shelves. "Towels, deodorant, toothpaste...aha! A brand new tooth brush!" I grab the toothbrush and the small hairbrush that was next to it. "I'm not sure how well this will work with my thick hair, but it's worth a shot." I close the closet door and set the things down on the counter. I quickly clean myself up and head out into the kitchen.

Gerald's standing at the stove, flipping pancakes. "There you are!" He smiles. "I gotta say, you do look pretty good in my clothes." "Oh please" I laugh, "I look like a mess." "A cute mess, though." He winks and goes back to cooking.

A little later, we finish eating and I grab my things and begin to head out. "Thank you, Gerald. You've truly been a life saver. I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't shown up last night." I smile, blinking away the tears that trying to develop. "I'm glad I was there to protect you, Lily, and I hope I'm always there to protect you." He pulls me into a hug, kissing the top of my head. I breathe a sigh of relief, taking in this moment of calm and peace. He pulls away from the hug, tilting his head down to meet me for a kiss. He kisses me deeply, one filled with passion. We both pull away smiling.

"Well, Gerald, I need to get going. I've already made Neil wait long enough." I head towards the door before stopping abruptly and turning towards him, "Oh! I promise I'll give you these clothes back. I'll go home and wash them so they'll be all nice and clean." "Don't worry about it." Gerald laughs, "They look better on you, anyway." We both laugh, and kiss goodbye. "I'll call you later, babe. Be safe." He calls out after me as I head out the door and into the comfort of my car.
