Clint Barton is deaf.

Laurens had figured out after a mission- one after rescuing the six new time travelers- and was testing out his new abilities. Tony's orders.

Barton had told him before, but he didn't completely understand how he could hear while being deaf, and had past it off as a "joke".

That was until the mission.

A guy happened to have some sort of electric powers that Laurens didn't completely understand (as well as most of the things in his new reality).

The guy happened to be called Blue Blast (by Clint, Pietro, and Max).

It was meant to be a scouting mission, looking for a woman who had stole something from a SHIELD base, and, with Laurens not having done much with his powers besides wasting his energy so he could sleep, had given the four the mission (Stark and Dr Banner having decided it was best for him to try the powers out) and told them to wait for her to show up at an old run down building in the northern side of the city.

Max had driven Barton there (having bugged Barton about it, since Pietro and John had said a short "see you there" and left).

Clint decided once he got there to wait up in the higher parts of the buildings metal bearings (since they were directed to go to the roof) and stayed there.

Max hung upside down on one of the lower pieces, dangling with her legs hooked around them, tapping something on a glowing device in her bracelet (which was similar to the things Stark had used when the time travelers came). Laurens knew by now the devices' name was FRIDAY.

Pietro ran around, "inspecting" the area, while Laurens just laid on the lowest metal piece (which was short enough the he could jump down when he needed to. He watched Pietro run around a pipe in circles.

And then a bird call sounded.

John tapped on his ear piece, swinging his legs over so he could sit up.

"What is it, Hawkeye?" he listened carefully, watching as Pietro stopped too, peering around the corner.

"Th-ere's-" static ran through the ear piece.

Pietro winced.

"There must be a disruptor nearby." Max said from behind them, making both men jump in surprise.

She pointed to Pietro, making a hand gesture to the left of her. He nodded, running in that direction with a small gust of wind.

Max did the same to Laurens, except pointing to the right. Once he nodded, she jumped up, not making.her wings appear as to not give her away, and grabbed onto the closest bar, using that one to jump up and then getting on a ledge, running away from view.

Once she made it to a looking on point, she saw Pietro running past some big metal pieces, and a big open area that he couldn't see since it was out of view.

She headed towards there.

She saw Barton and someone else, though it didn't look like the person they were looking for. The former was hanging upside down from the ceiling, face to face with the person but also conscious.

She cursed under her breath, hoping that they wouldn't see her, and dropped down onto a nearby ledge, ducking behind a metal bar on the smooth and slightly slippery ground.

She peaked out, seeing the face of the person and realizing who it was almost instantly.

Blue Blast stood in front of her one of her father figures, pacing in front of him and asking in a low voice about something, the words unclear but the sound bouncing off the walls.

She slowly slid her hands towards her braid, tightening it and then lowering her hand towards a pouch strapped to her thigh, taking out a blue dagger and hoping the male couldn't feel her movements or the little electricity her body was undoubtedly releasing (the suit blocked most of it off from people with his powers but still showed some, since not even a suit designed for it could stop showing her life entirely).

She raised the blade up, ready to strike, when Pietro and Laurens came zooming in, the latter nearly ramming into a pole.

She grunted, hoping the two speedsters would give her a distraction.

She pulled her hood tighter around her, slowly inching towards the criminal as Pietro talked his ear off.

She raised the dagger high, ready to strike the hilt onto his head when he turned around with a flourish, knocking the wind from her and basically tossing her aside.

Laurens charged forward, Blue Blast grabbing his wrist and slinging him to the window and smashing it.

Clint watched with wide eyes, not hearing anything and hoping he was quiet as he broke his thumbs and got his wrists and hands freed.

Max got back up, cracking her neck before charging forward, punching the criminal across the jaw and face, breaking his nose and then got thrown out with Laurens, landing on a car and making the sirens of it blair.

The girl grunted, grabbing the car keys that were next to her after she landed and pressing a button, the car making a clicking sound and all the noise it was making stopped.

"This one worked." she gripped, her voice cracking. Laurens shook his head, running back up the building and to the man.

Clint was almost free now, unknown to anyone but him as Pietro kept dodging the blows that the man was throwing his ways, and he finally broke out of the chains, grabbing an arrow from the quiver that had been thrown to the side and looked at his now broken bow, letting out a sigh at the weapon he loved the most before charging towards the man and threw the arrow as hard as he could at his back, the criminal letting out a yelp and reaching behind him.

Clint gestured for the two speedsters to back away and pressed a button, making the arrow shock him and drop to the ground as Max finally flew back up, her wings out now.

"What'd I miss?" she asked as Pietro charged towards Barton, checking for injuries.

Max was now pacing the length of the room, making John nervous for no reason, by what he knew.

He sniffed, trying to show his discomfort, but to no avail, since Max kept doing it with a stony expression.

Eventually, Jefferson snapped the book he was reading- The Lord of the Rings- shut and Max startled slightly, whipping around to face Thomas.

"Can you please stop?" he asked, sounding remarkably like an eight year old. "You are making me nervous."

Max shrugged, and- to almost everyone who knew her surprise- went to sit down near the arm rest.

It wasn't like her to be this quiet, especially around people she knew and trusted (most of the time).

She sighed. "He's not going to be able to hear until Tony makes new hearing aids."

"What are those?" Laurens asked, Max snorting even though it was a actual question. "What's so hilarious?"

"You wouldn't get it." she stated. "Anyways, hearing aids are things that people put into their ears, making them hear better, especially if the cochlea has worn down over time. But there are also some that can make deaf people here. Like if you were born without hearing, there can be a special set made to assist with it."

"Like Mister Barton." Jefferson stated helpfully.

Max shook her head. "Not... exactly...." she trailed off, looking on.

Laurens stopped asking questions.
