Day 7: June 28
It had been a week since the ten time travelers had come to 2017, and they were still adjusting to their new lives.
Doux and Barton had been exceedingly exceptional to them in the category of learning the new gadgets, to which the ten (especially Hamilton and Jefferson) had been very pleased about.
They were currently in their rooms around the tower, to which they had started to design to their own likings.
Everyone except for Alexander and John were in their rooms.
The couple were on the fire escape of Max's room- who was currently asleep- and they were staring out into the boisterous city. It was completely silent here though; the pair sitting on the cool metal and practically cuddling.
"Sometimes, I feel like I should have been of the dead back then."
His voice was so silent that you could barely hear it, but, of course, Hamilton did. He leaned up from his position, making his arms crack and Laurens' arm fall onto the metal with a soft thud.
"Why is that, dearest Jack?" he asked, locking his gaze with Laurens'. The man in question didn't answer for a beat, but, when he did, it sounded broken, coming out fast and his voice cracking every so often.
"Because I feel of a burden to this world, and that maybe I was meant for better things sometimes, but then I fail, and I fail them, an-and, I fail you, and I feel as if that is one of my greatest sorrows of this life and-and that I was of a waste of a life that could have possibly belonged to of someone of importance, more so than me, and that I wouldn't be here to be a failure for manki-"
Alex silenced him by pulling him in for a chaste kiss before pulling away to pull him into a strong, and, what he hoped, a loving embrace.
"I do not believe you are just talking of me." Alexander said after a moments silence. The silence stretched for a couple of minutes before Laurens spoke again.
"My family." he whispered. "My parents, my...father. My daughter."
A silent tear rolled down his cheek, not going unnoticed by Alex, who swiped it off with his thumb.
"I researched those books about me that Stark had offered, and I learned something about my daughter that I wish I hadn't..." he trailed off, but Alex knew he wasn't finished, so he let him continue. "She became a orphan."
John's last sentence in him sobbing, and clinging to Alex before the latter knew what was happening.
"This new reality is definitely not what I would have expected to happen after that battle." Laurens whispered into the crook of Hamilton's neck, breathing in his scent.
It was silent for a few beats, Alex checking the watch that Max had given him, reading 1:08pm. He nudged John softly, just to see if he was listening, receiving a muffled "What?" from the that was now at his side and breathing on his neck.
"We should possibly go in," Alex suggested, "it is getting late, dearest Laurens."
And so they went, climbing out of the window quietly to not desturb Max's rest and slipping out of the room and into the hall, walking past Washington and Lafayette's room, hearing laughter through the door..
They made it to their room down the hall and shut the door quietly.
"I hope this does not change anything, my love." John would say later, after they had both changed and were tucked comfortably under the covers, Alex's head on John's chest.
"Not at all, babe." Hamilton said, sending a cocky grin up to Laurens. "I learned that from Max."
"I sort of like it, Alexander."
And if they kissed each other breathless after that, who was there to judge them?
