It was a warm day, Laurens and Hamilton on the date that Stark had promised.

It was one that could have (read: did) happen in the 1700s, the picnic wonderful.

...that was until he got a call from Maxs' school.

He looked at the caller ID, like Max had told him, and saw a number he had heard the others talking about from time to time.

He squinted at it, shrugging to Laurens when he caught his eye and hit the green phone button.

He put it up to his ear, as someone's voice filled in.

"Hello, Mr André." they said. "We have been informed by Max Duox that we should have you called if any thing of importance happens to her, which, did. She is being held in the office from getting into a fight with another student," they muttered a 'again' that Hamilton barely heard, "and you or someone that is relevant to her should come get her, as she will be suspended for the rest of the day. Have a nice day."

The call ended and he slowly put the phone down, groaning and flopping back onto the ground, placing a hand over his eyes.

"...What was it?" Laurens asked.

"Miss Doux is being obtained at her school, from getting into a quarrel with some other. I have been advised to go get her."

John groaned himself, but pulled himself up, holding out a hand to Hamilton when he looked.

"I suppose we better get to it, then."

Alex took the hand, pulling himself up and dusting off invisible dust from his jeans.

They walked into the office of the school thirty minutes and a phone call to Happy later, having not known where it was.

They were led to a office, where Max and two others sat, a woman standing in the door, watching them.

Max had her head in her hands and her elbows on a desk in the middle of the room with her hood drawn up so no one could see the back of her head, while one of the two held a ice pack to his eye, the other with a hood drawn over his face and his chest rising and falling in a steady beat.

Max looked up when they entered, showing her hair slightly mussed and a bruise forming on her eye as well.

She grabbed her bag from underneath her chair, walking to the door and nodding to the woman who was watching her, shooting a glare to one of the boys who returned it with no hesitation before the trio started walking out of the office and to Stark's car.

"What did you do?" Alex asked quietly, putting a hand on the small of Max's back as they walked.

"More like what the fuck happened." she muttered, rubbing a hand down her face. "They were talkin' shit, so I punched one, and the other little fuck joined."

"You know," Laurens said, shutting the passenger door to Max's car as he got into one side and Max got into the driver side, Alex going to the back, "you remind me of us. We always did that."

Alex snorted. "More like 'do', Jack."

John ignored him. "I know you know about the duel."

Max put the key into the ignition.

"Yes, I do."

"And that is why you remind me of us. You jump into fights."

"Bucky has a bet goin'," Max said suddenly, Laurens and Hamilton giving her matching expressions of confusion, "it's about how Steve would get into fights with guys bigger than 'im, most he didn't even win. Some he still don't. But the bet is, he wouldn't be doin' 'at in da future, but 'e is. And Bucky promised him ten dollars. Which, considerin' he made it in the 1940s, it will be around $175 today."

Hamilton snorted, putting a hand over his mouth and looking out the window, a curtain of red hair moving in front of his face before he pushed it back with an annoyed huff.

Max, who was looking at him through the mirror, pointed it back to its' original position. "Why don't you just cut it?"

Alexander actually looked offended, putting both hands over his hair, giving her an affronted look.

"Never."

Laurens snorted so hard it hurt his throat.

"You may want to put ice over that." Alex said as they walked through the elevator as it dinged to the top, the sky outside rumbling as dark clouds formed. Thank god they left the park.

Max flung herself on the coach once she threw her bag onto the table.

She hummed from her spot, not making a move to get up.

Alex shrugged, going to the kitchen as Laurens stared at him, holding the basket from their date.

"So, Max," Stark said, looking at the girl who remained looking down at the floor, curled up on a recliner, a blanket on her shoulders, "I heard that you got into a fight in school toady."

"Did they tell you why?" she snapped, jerking.

Stark raised a brow, and she raised her eyes, having her head in the same position.

"Andrew and Chase."

Stark's eyes went slightly wider, and Alex looked at John through the corners of his eye, raising a brow when Laurens faced his brow and the blonde shrugged.

Stark nodded while Pietro and Wanda looked murderous.
