Hamilton's POV

I gulped nervously as I walked through the door. I was finally here. After years of hard work I finally received a scholarship to King's college. As a kid in the Caribbean I only dared to hope that one day I would find myself on the threshold of one of the most prestigious colleges in the United States. I was ready to prove myself.

It was definitely going take some getting used to the college. It was huge and was full of students milling around and laughing and talking. I suddenly felt out of place in my battered jeans and black hoodie. I approach the front desk anxiously clutching my weathered duffel bag.
"Excuse me, I've just arrived and I'm unsure of how to access my room. Can you tell me where to go?", I asked the secretary.
"Name.", she replied not even looking up from her computer.
"My name is Alexander Hamilton.", I said nervously.
"You're in room 51. No loud parties, no drugs or alcohol, and no girls over at night.", she said as she handed me a key.
"Thank you?" I turned from the desk and made my way to room 51. I took a deep breath as I stared at the door. The person behind this door would turn out to be my life-long friend. This person would soon become my most trusted confidant through my years during college and someone I would remember for the rest of my days. I put the key into the lock and turned it. I was ready to meet my college roommate. I opened the door. The most beautiful human being I had ever seen was hunched over a laptop, his freckled face scrunched in concentration. He had startling green eyes and curly auburn hair. His freckles only made him more beautiful as they stretched across his face like stars forming galaxies.
I felt my heart suddenly skip a beat as he looks up from his laptop, smiles and says, "Hey you must be my roommate. I'm John Laurens. It's nice to meet you."

John's POV

He stared for a second. I began to wonder if I had said something wrong. I hoped not. He was really cute. He had long black hair pulled back in a pony tail. Intelligent eyes framed his hunger-pang frame. He was short, maybe 5 3' or 5 4' at most.
"Sorry, my name is Alexander Hamilton, but you can just call me Alex. It's a pleasure to meet you as well John.", he spoke, smiling. My heart suddenly jumped as he said my name.
"So, Alex what are you majoring in?", I asked as he sat down next to me at the table.
He leaned back and stretched. "Law and Politics, what about you?", he replied. My eyes widened. A double major. In law and politics. Damn.
"Marine Biology. I really like the ocean.", I explained.
"That's really cool. It's nice that your doing something you love.", he remarked.
"Well, what about you, you must like law and politics?" I asked. A passionate gleam seemed to take ahold of his eyes as he dove into a long-winded explanation about his takes on current political ideas and his opinions on our latest president. I didn't mind. I enjoyed watching him talk. Every now and then in between his bursts of energetic speech his beautiful dark eyes would glance at me eagerly as he awaited my reply. We eventually began talking about our interests.
"So what type of music do you listen to?", I asked as he fiddled with his watch.
"I'll listen to anything really but I'm partial to musicals.", he answered.
"Cool what's your favorite musical?", I asked.
"I like that one about the founding fathers....what's it called?", he said eyes on the ceiling as he tried to remember.
"You mean Lin Manuel Miranda! That's one of my favorites!, I exclaimed. He grinned back at me.
"John, you're very easy to talk to. I think we're going to be good friends." he said.
"I agree.", we smiled.
