My mom barges into the room. Sure enough, a very handsome collie stands in the middle of the room. "Hey Mrs. Reed.." Sage tries to break the tension. "Sage. What the tail are you doing in my house, alone...with my daughter?!" Mom begins shaking angrily. "Well, it's really not what you're thin-" "Sage.. Let's just tell her what happened at school." I stop him from saying anything that might get us in trouble. He nods. "Mrs. Reed, Today, our friend Tom, he um. He comitted suicide in the boys locker room.." He says the part I couldn't without bursting into tears. Mom gasps. "Oh, kids I'm so sorry. How did you find out?" She asks directly to Sage. He turns away. "He stood right infront of me."
We continue to tell her things and skip the part about us ending up asleep on the couch. Mom invites Sage to stay. He accepts, knowing my mom will ask more questions. "Flutter, upstairs." I tell the my new pet. To be honest, I'd rather have a cricket. Flutter isn't cuddle friendly.
