THE DOOR TO the florist bear's archaic words, supplying an infinite aura of elegance in its wake.
It bears the words:
Doubt the stars are fire;
Doubt the sun doth move;
Doubt the truth is a liar;
But never doubt I love.
– Hamlet, William ShakespeareDalileh pushes the door with the ethereal sound of a bell being triggered when she steps in. She's used to the sound and she doesn't spare a glance to the graceful structure of the place. Flowers upon flowers hang and sit in colorful rows with a coded semblance as each color blends into another.
The girl reaches the front desk and there stands Melanie's mother with a bubbling smile while she hums along to the melodies in the store. Dalileh presses the bell gently and the woman is stunned for a millisecond before reacting immediately. She gives Dalileh a smile and asks, "Nice to see you so soon Dalileh, what are you searching for today?"
Dalileh thinks for a minute trying to decide between the complexity of the orchids and the simplicities of lily's. Then, "I'd like a bouquet or orchids, roses, and daisies" she says before adding, "also a separate rose."
Cassandra nods with a soft smile and replies, "That'll be seventy five dollars sweetie."
Dalileh pulls out seventy five dollars and places it on the table while Cassandra turns to sort the flowers. When she returns, the vibrancy of orange orchids are complemented by white lilies and small daisies. The brightness is added onto with overly saturated pink roses being sparsely distributed throughout. She places the wrapped bouquet on the counter, next to it is a single pink rose. Dalileh grabs the rose and looks towards Cassandra. She hands it over and says, "Can you give this to Melanie for me?"
Cassandra's eyebrows are furrowed in intense confusion unable to decipher the situation. Then, she asks, "Dalileh sweetheart what's this for?"
"It's an apology and a thank you to her" Dalileh responds while shuffling her feet.
