Elinn's eyes slowly slid open and a sleepy smile lit her face. I couldn't help but smile at how adorable she looked right now. Then she yawned and I was pretty sure that my eyes were going to melt out of my head from cuteness. How did I get lucky enough to have such an amazing girl as my mate?
"Are we there yet?" She asked scratchily and rubbed her eyes.
"Yes, we just got here. Do you want me to carry you inside or do you want to walk?" I was hoping that she would let me carry her inside just. It was purely selfish because all I wanted to do was because I just wanted to feel the sparks her touch would mean.
"I'll walk, then you can show me around the house and we can put our stuff away." Her reasoning made sense, and I reluctantly decided to go along. I helped Elinn get out of the car and grabbed the rest of the food we had bought at the gas station to bring it inside.
My hands were full even which was unfortunate because I really wanted to hold Elinn's hand. I led her towards the front door to the house then I realized that I put the keys in my back pocket. I couldn't grab them with all the stuff in my hands which only left one option.
"Hey, could you please do me a favor? The keys to the house are in my back pocket and I can't grab them. Would you please grab them and open the door for us." I waited not knowing what her answer would be. I wasn't sure if Elinn was going to be comfortable with this.
Her eyes went wide and she glanced at my back pocket. When she looked at me I could tell that she was debating whether this was going to be a good idea or a poor one. I honestly had no idea what she going to do and if she decided she wouldn't then I would just put all of this down for a few seconds and grab them myself. Though it would be easier for her to just do it but that would work too.
Slowly Elinn extended her hand and slid it into my back pocket. I did my best to keep myself calm, but my wolf was not cooperating. All he could think about were our mate's hands touching us in other places and I was working as hard as I could to keep things in order. Then her hand was gone and she was inserting the key into the lock letting us inside the house.
We made our way inside and I set the bags on the counter and decided that I could get the bags later after I go Elinn to bed. Elinn was still blushing from having her hands down my pants. Wait that sounded wrong I mean when she was in my back pocket.
"Haha, look at what I gotta you doing! I knew you would start thinking it too and now you are! Come on let's take our little mate and show her what fun really is." My wolf called out in my mind eyeing our mate up with lustful eyes.
"Carter are you going to show me around or are we going to stand in the kitchen all night?" Elinn teased me as she kept unloading the snacks we had left into the kitchen cupboards. I did the best I could to keep my situation under control and that meant hiding behind the counter for a little while.
"I'll show you around after I finish bringing the other bags inside and then we can go to bed. We both need a good night's sleep, I know neither of us has gotten on in a long time." I promised her and walked back out the front door to grab our bags. I hefted all four of the bags and carried them into the house and back into our room.
By the time I got back to the kitchen I was fine, but Elinn was not. She was sitting there staring at the wall and her eyes were glowing that awful unnatural gold color. My wolf was once again on edge although it was for an entirely different reason.
"Her mind is so broken, and I have no idea how to fix it. I thought you would save her, but it didn't do anything, she is still just as broken. I don't know what we can to fix her, but I feel bad." Her wolf looked slightly lost but she also looked as if she was trying to make a decision.
"She is stronger than she thinks but she relies too much on other people now. I have to remind her what she is capable of. She has become too trusting and it's going to get her hurt and she has to learn." I was starting to wonder why she was saying all of this.
"Elinn's father's strength is her own if she would just remember who he is. I know that she remembers him, she just hasn't made the connection to who he is yet. You coddle her and don't encourage her to grow stronger to train to do anything to help her learn how to be a real wolf, you don't do any of that stuff. You're content to sit there and let her waste away so that you can keep her safe and sound." With that, the golden eyed wolf began to stalk towards me. I refused to back down I was the Alpha here and she had no right to order me around.
"The time is coming when she will be forced to learn. I tried to warn you, I told you to teach her to fight and you ignored me. You let her try once and it fell apart because you were not patient and willing to do it right. Now I think that is time for you to discover the consequences of those actions." My wolf began to take control of our body wanting to keep both our body and our mate's body safe.
"You still haven't bothered to put the pieces of the puzzle together. If you had just worked harder you would have figured it out by now and we could have started to work things out. Instead, I am having to hide my existence from Elinn because you are too weak to listen to what I have to say." The sneer on my mate's face looked wrong and my wolf exploded.
"You've done nothing to help us understand! You won't give us any straight answers and carefully skirt around those you don't feel like answering. This isn't our fault, you are no better than we are! If you would just tell us what to look for then maybe we could begin to unravel this mess and fix it." He growled back at the little monster, we were nose to nose now.
"I have given you so many hints if you only bothered to listen to what I was saying. I would purposely lead you down a certain train of thought but you never bothered to follow. I would try to be as obvious as possible but I can not outrightly tell you. I physically can not, I would die if I even tried and I don't particularly like that option and I don't think you want to know what it would do to your precious mate!" The power in her voice sent me reeling several steps, and it wasn't the strength of a royal rolling off of her it was something else entirely.
"Go searching in the woods and you might find some answers there, that is if you bother to pay attention. It will be small and it won't look like much, but it will hold so many answers." Elinn's eyes flickered between gold and blue when she told me one last thing.
"Elinn's father's name....his real name is...."
AN: Let me explain a little bit about what happened this weekend. Wattpad has been having some problems lately with a couple things on the platform, one of which is story uploads. I would sit and try to publish a story and it would show me that it was published, but five minutes later it would be a draft again. Sometimes it would delete the section altogether ( good thing I write using google docs) and I would have to start all over. I am so sorry for all of the confusion, but it's been figured out for the time being at least.
I hope you all have a great Martin Luther King Jr. Day and remember that everyone is equal. We are all the same, we all bleed the same color no matter what race, gender, ethnicity, religion or sexuality that you are. No one person is more important than another and I think that's something that my book says to. Everyone deserves to be treated like a human being it's just a fact. No one deserves to be looked down on because of things that they cannot control. Let's remember that and give those around us the respect they rightfully deserve. Until next time, bye bye!
