Carter
I sat there staring down the aisle in awe. I had been trying to get Elinn to understand that this wasn't here fault and she hadn't believed me. Then this teenager strolls right up and she trust him? It didn't matter though, as long as Elinn understood that she was cared for and a person who had worth that was all that mattered.
"Elinn, I think Annelise wants to have a tea party with you. Do you want to come over to our house and play with her? If you don't that's perfectly fine we'll understand, but it's your choice." Corbin suggested pulling away from Elinn as her cries became quieter.
"That sounds like a wonderful idea. Do you think Carter will want to come too?" She asked him and I stepped into their view.
"I would love to go to a tea party with you, I think it's a great idea. You can play with Annelise while I discuss some things with Chad. Does that sound okay to you?" I asked as I neared her.
"Yeah, that's fine. Do you think the library would mind if I borrowed some of these books?" My mate held a stack of children's books in her arms. She was staring down at them sheepishly as if a little ashamed to be carrying them.
"That's what the library is for Elinn. They don't care if you check out some of these books, in fact I think they would encourage it." I stated taking a few of the books from her hands. Elinn gave me one of her breath taking smiles and I couldn't help but smile right back at her.
We retreated from the stacks of books and headed towards the checkout desks. Corbin went to go tell his father about the plan and would meet us at the front. As we neared the front desk Ruthan greeted us cheerily.
"Oh it is so good to see adults checking out some kids books. They are so cute and a great way to entertain yourself for a little while. I always grab a couple to have around the house. You know in case my children ever decide to visit their poor decaying mother." Ruthan sighed dramatically raising a hand to her head.
Elinn giggled and I let out a low chuckle. I was glad to see Elinn was able to bounce back fairly easily from this newest attack of hers. I hated that I couldn't do anything to stop them from plaguing her. I could fight off warriors and keep her locked in a room, but I couldn't keep her memories from popping up.
"It's refreshing to see you checking out books Carter. You have a bad habit of just stealing them and I'm getting rather cranky about it. If you keep doing this I may need to speak to your mother about you cookie privileges." Ruth threatened and it actually sent a little shiver of terror through me.
"Look I promise not to take them without checking them out, just please, do not get my cookies taken away. I need my fix Ruthan or I will surely die," I cried passionately and flopped dramatically to the floor. Ruthan pushed one of the books off the desk so it landed on my nose. I yelped and swatted the book away.
Elinn started laughing as if it was the funniest thing she had ever seen. I eyed her carefully then gave her my best puppy dog look. I wanted her to feel bad for me, after all I had just had a book violently propelled towards my beautiful face. This only caused my mate to double over and clutched her sides.
"Oh, you think this is funny do you? You like seeing me in pain, is that it?" I accused teasingly.
"You do have to admit you did squeal like you were a little kid. It was kinda funny." Elinn said straightening. Her smile took up her entire face and I was happy to see it. I would never get tired of seeing her look so happy when so much of her life had been miserable.
"Look Daddy Alpha is lying on the floor!" I turned and found Chad and his children staring at me. Then the family began to laugh which caused Elinn to start up all over again.
"Ruthan look what you started! This is all your fault, if you hadn't slid that book onto my face they wouldn't be laughing at me!" I hollard and climbed back to my feet.
"Oh, I'm so sorry Alpha it just slipped and fell right onto your face. I would never do a thing like that on purpose." Ruthan started acting all offended.
"Come on let's just go, I think I've had enough of libraries for today and grabbed the books off the counter and headed back to my room. Elinn ran after me and took one of my hands in her own. She leaned up pressed her lips to my nose. I froze and looked down at her curiously.
"I figured I should kiss it better." Elinn said and skipped down the hall the rest of the way to our rooms.
AN: Sorry it's so short I promise tomorrows chapter will be longer. I really wanted to do the tea party in Elinn's perspective. Hope you all enjoyed it even though it was short. Thanks for all the support. Until next time, bye bye!
