Hot on The Trail(COMPLETE)

Chapter 3

AN-I hope your ready. Not really much to say. Just enjoy it.

   Mittens was tired. The poor cat hadn't slept sense they left. Bolt promised that once they got to town, they would jump on a truck going in their direction. Only one problem, what direction was their direction.
   "Mittens, we need a map," the dog said.
   The cat groaned,"No. What I need is sleep. Can we please just rest till morning?"
   Bolt looked at his friend and saw how tired she was,"Yeah, we can rest."
   Bolt looked around for a place suitable for sleep, and finally found an ally with an old mattress. The two walked to it and laid down.
   Mittens, however, was to cold to actually fall asleep.
   The cat knew that she might be stepping on a nerve doing this, but she was just too cold. So, she inched closer to Bolt and curled up against, feeling his warmth helped her fall asleep quickly.
   Bolt noticed this and looked at the cat who was purring in her sleep. The dog smiled as he laid his head down and fell into a deep sleep.

   "First Rhino, now Bolt and Mittens," Penny said worried.
   "Don't worry honey. We can find them all. They couldn't have gone far."
   Penny looked down,"But mom, I can't just sit here and 'wait' for the possibility that he'll come back."
   Linda knew her daughter was worried. After the first time Bolt went missing, she never would leave him for a second, except for at school, but she knew he was safe.
   "Don't worry. Well find him. I'll make fliers if you want."
   Penny looked to her mom with a smile.
   "Do you think they left to find Rhino?"
   "With how smart your dog is, I wouldn't doubt it."
   That put Penny at ease. For the time being. She still missed him and prayed that he would come home soon.

   Rhino noticed when the sound of an opening knife that caused him to stadium that this was his chance of excape. The hamster was hungry, thirsty, and scared.
   The box opened and the human saw him.
   "What the?"
   Before anything else could be done or said, Rhino got out of his ball and ran away. He didn't know where he was and he didn't know where he was going. All he knew is that he was t staying there.

   Bolt woke up the next morning and looked around, almost forgetting that he was searching for Rhino.
   The dog was about to get up but noticed Mittens leaned in his side.
   Bolt blushed a little at this. But why? It's not like it was embarrassing to help his cold friend. He does it with Penny all the time. So why was this any different.
   Bolt shook the thought away and got up, causing Mittens to awaken also.
   "What time is it?" The cat asked.
   "I don't know. Buts it's morning so we better go."
   Mittens internally groaned. She was enjoying the warmth of Bolt. WAIT! DID SHE JUST THINK THAT?!
   Mittens was now internally beating herself for thinking something like that. She didn't need anyone's help. Last night was just a special occasion.
   "I think there's a u-haul truck going to nashville."
   "If it'll get us closer then let's go."
   Bolt started running toward the truck. Mittens was right beside him, but a sudden pain on her leg caused the cat to fall. Bolt didn't realize this until he was on the truck. He started looking for mittens worried and finally saw her on the ground.
    BOlt knew it was a risk, but he quickly jumped off the truck and ran for the cat.
   "MITTENS! You ok?"
   The looked at the dog,"Yeah. I'm fine. Why did you do that. You could've been killed. And you missed our closets ride."
   Bolt shook his head,"I don't care. You were hurt. Can you walk now?"
   The cat tried to stand and could move, but a torn muscle in her leg made it chalenging.
   "I think i tore a muscle."
   Bolt looked back to see that their truck had stopped at a red light about 100 feet away.
   "Hang on," Bolt said, grabbing the cat with his mouth and taking off.
   "BOLT! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
   The dog said nothing as he ran for the train as fast as possible.
   The truck started moving again when Bolt was about ten feet away, and due to acceleration time, Bolt was about to get close enough to the truck to throw mittens into it.
   However, the truck started to speed up and was leaving Bolt behind.
   "Bolt!" Mittens yelled as the dog was falling more and more behind.
   Then something caught his eye. Another car that was moving slightly faster than the truck. Once the car was close to bolt, he jumped onto the hood and tried to hold on as he started getting closer to the truck.
   Once he thought je was close enough, Bolt used all the strength he had to jump off the car. Jumping diagonally and fast. Too fast actually. The dog seceded in jumping inside the truck, bid ended up hitting the inner wall. Not hard enough to really hurt him, but it did cause a little pain.
   Bolt winced a little, but got up and walked to where the cat was sitting.
   "Well, the super dog actually flies."
   "Ha ha mittens. I bet you couldn't have done that."
   "Correction. I WOULDN'T do that. It's crazy. Also I only have three lives left. Gotta save them."
   Bolt shook his head as he sat down,"How's your leg?"
   "Eh. It's fine. Just a little rest and it'll be good as new. How are you. You hit that wall pretty hard."
   "Nah I'm fine."
   Mittens gave Bolt an uh huh that said 'I don't believe you', but layer her head down,"We have a little ways to go, Bolt. Might as well get some rest. Especially after that stunt you pulled."
   "Ha ha. Very funny," Bolt said as he laid down.

AN-So, that is the newest chapter. Hope you guys enjoyed it. I'm actually enjoying this story. Surprising. Well, I guess I'll see yall 9n the next chapter.
