chapter 4

I woke up with a cold sweat. My eyes open wide. I've never dreamt about escaping. In fact escaping is impossible. Karma has tried many times and was unsecssesful. so why am I finding myself wanting to escape so badly? I jump up from my bed and run out the door. Sweat still on my face. I pass karma who is out of bed already as well. "Wait where are you" karma said but didn't get to finish. I ran past him not even noticing. Out. I have to get out. If I do. No more tests no more experiments. Maybe I could go to school. Make some friends. I opens the door to the outside expecting to see the woods of my dream. And was disappointed. I saw the dessert for miles the sand almost red. I bent down and threw up all over the sand. I heard karmas deep breathing behind me. I look behind me and karmas eyes widened. I felt water spill from my eyes. Tears? I haven't cried in years. karma walks towards me. "Bad dream" he asked. I nod my head and whip me tear on the puke stained sleeve. Karma walks closer and Pull's me into a hug my eye widened. I've never been hugged. How are you supposed to react? I just start crying my eyes out on his shoulder. "What was it about?" He said. "We escaped." I cried onto his shoulder. "So why are you crying of we escaped it was a good dream?" He said in surprised. I took a big gulp of air and said. "Because it wasn't real" I started to cry even louder. "Oh" Karma said I looked up at him. He pulled away from me And looked at me. "Well than I have an idea but no more crying first." I nodded And wiped my eyes. If you want to then let's just do it! Let's escape! " he said loudly with his hands in the air. " Shhhh! " I said and clamped my dirty hand over his mouth. "Don't say stuff like that so loud especially near me!" I said. " Sorry" he said "besides you know that escaping is impossible! We would die before we got even half way out in the dessert!" I said. " ya but what if we stay here" he said looking at me like he was the most brilliant guy ever. I just looked at him like he was stupid. He rolled his eyes. " do I have to spell it out. What if we stayed here and let them do experiments on us untill we can't die at all then we escape! " he said excited. I felt my own face light up he might actually be smart! Then a second later my face dropped again. "Yes but that could take years" I state. "Years are better then never escaping." He shrugged " be patient " I nod my head. Perhaps karma wasnt so bad after all. Just then we heard another pair of footsteps coming toward us. "Ah I'm glad to find you to together we were just looking for both of you." We turned and saw a doctor. "Please follow me." He says and turns and walks into the lab. Karma takes my hand and we walk inside.
we walk into a hallway I've never been in before but by the look on karma face he has. He stops walking forcing me to stop to. "Why are we going to solitary?" He asked and I look around more closely now that I think about it this place does seem kinda quiet. And it also makes sense that karma has been here. Solitary is a form of punishment. When kids get into fights or arguments they get put in solitary. The doctor turned and smiled "please just follow me everything will be explained when we get there." And continues walking. Karma didn't start walking so I pulled him forward untill he sighed and started walking again. We entered a solitary room which looked like an apartment room. It had a kitchen and a bathroom and two rooms. Which it should only have one room. "I'm sure you both are aware that we have had a breakthrough in both of you. Well there will start to be some side effects pretty soon for both of you and if the others saw the side effects the might become rebellious. We didn't want this to seem like a punishment more of a precaution. So we are allowing you to to live together from now on. You both will be experimented on together and shall live together from now on. I will be back shortly with your meals" he said than shut the door. I looked at karma who looked rather upset. "DAMM!" He yelled really loud and ran to the door and started banging. " let us out!! " he screamed. "Wow karma calm down we need to think" I said and I grabbed his shoulder trying to make him stop. He turned and pushed me for me floor. I fell and hit my butt pretty hard. Hurt flashed in my eyes and his softened. "Look I'm sorry. It's just I don't do well in small places and I like being around a lot of people it makes me feel less alone." He said. " I know this must be hard but if we are going to escape then we need to be on our best behaviors. Plus at least we have eachother. " I said trying to ignore the pain in my butt now. " your right let's look around the room and see what we are dealing with see if there's any cameras and such" he sighed. We searched around the room and didn't find any cameras but we did find a white board along with some words on top of it said. Check each side effect as you go along. The first word was claustrophobia. I looked at karma who was looking at the paper. " this whole room is one big test" he said.
