"Dana?" I walked out of my bedroom, groggily dragging my feet across the carpet as I called out into the empty hallway.
I lived with my mom at the time, and we both scraped and scrounged every single little cent we could to make it in the big city of Detroit.
Seems like the bar maiding and exotic dancing was all I could do, since I barely learned to read, write and I sucked at basic math. That's what happens when you have a crack head mother who don't deserve the damn title and a criminal father who could give two shits about you. I basically looked out for myself growing up... all I had was me.
"Dana?" I called out again. But the only thing I hear is the sounds of sirens blaring outside of my apartment. I yawned then peered out the blinds.
There were people driving as fast as they could down the streets and cops going from one end of the block to another.
I was confused, I didn't understand what was going on. Everything was fine yesterday, why the hell the sudden panic?
I walked over to my living room and turned the TV on, flipped it to the news and watched a bit of it.
"Breaking news: An epidemic of death has baffled doctors and scientists all around the world. It seems the- Wait.. what's going..? No! NOO!!"
And then the ongoing beep of the channel losing signal was the last thing I saw. I shuddered then quickly walked over toward the door and unlocked it just so I could walk out and see what's going on.
Dogs were barking and people were running away. Then I heard gunshots blazing and bombs going off. I screamed and ran back into my house before running upstairs and hiding in my closet.
The noise went on and on, and the singing. The singing filled my ears like some dreaded noise that sent chills down my spine and gave me goosebumps.
Oompa loompa doompady doo, I've got a special story for you.
Oompa loompa dompady dee, all of you fools will no longer be free..
The singing seemed to have gotten louder, I knew they were in my apartment. Looking, searching for more people to kill. Whoever were singing, they were starting genocide.
The singing stopped, the footsteps fell silent as they planted themselves in the other side of the closet.
The door flew open... and that's all I remembered..
"Hey, Dessa. Are you there? Earth to Lollypop.." I heard a voice aiming to get my attention, then I snapped out of my trance and looked over at Mint.
"Oh.. sorry."
"Remembering it huh? How it all started?" she asked, eyes focused solely on the road, voice focused solely on me.
"No. Of course not, I can't remember shit. Remember?" I chuckled, but I know she sees right through me. I may have lost some of my long term memory, but that is one I will never forget.
"Well, here we are." Mint said as she parked down a lonely block, three blocks away from where Oompizzle and his gang resided like a bunch of orange bitches.
I stepped out of the vehicle, holstered my semi automatic, rifle slug shooting shotgun then changed the slugs into 33's. A wider range and a stronger shot is what I need to blast holes into them. I slipped a cigar into my mouth then lit it.
Mints equipped herself with a F6 destroyer, a rifle that is so powerful and so deadly accurate that it was held in a secret military auxiliary, away from public knowledge. The 6 inch bullets could blast holes the size of a cantalope through an O.L easily, and don't think hiding behind obstacles can protect you from that powerful beast. It's range shots are so strong, it could blast through iron.
