Into a room he took us, the walls were laced in blood and the floor was drenched in the stuff too. A mark on it looked like someone had been dragging something across the room, and as I followed the drag trail toward the corner of the room, I couldn't help but notice how big it was. I squinted at a large mass, covered by a tarp. "What the hell is this, wonka?" I asked, turning my head to him.

"This is the reason why we need recruits. He grabbed the tarp and pulled it away. Laying there, dead, was a distorted figure the size of a bull. It's face was horribly disfigured, but it still had that signature green hair and orange skin.

I couldn't help but yelp. "What the holy fuck is this?!"

"It's a mutated Oompa Loompa. Apparently, those mother fuckers had taken over nuclear power plants and the radioactive chemicals have mutated some of them. I think they are using the mutating chemicals to create super soldiers, and it's our mission to travel and find every single one of these power plants and wipe it clean of Oompa Loompas."

"What?" Mint exclaimed. "But there are like, 61 commercial power plants and 99 reactors in 30 states. It will take years to destroy them all."

Wonka furrowed his brows. "That's why we need more recruits. The more hunters we have, the more ground we cover."

I poked at the body, green ooze spewed out of it and onto my face. "Oh, shit!" with a quick wipe to my face I walked over to Wonka. "This goes beyond what we're used to, Wonka. I mean, how long did it take to kill that thing? It's riddled with bullet holes."

Wonka looked down at me. "Let's just say it will take some serious firepower to kill those sonsa bitches."

May sort of chuckled to herself. Her destroyer would kill those ugly bastards quicker than a blink of an eye. I, of course, just need to tweak the gunpowder in my shells and those things are going bye bye.

"For now we rest, in the morning we'll pack up what food we have and leave for our first plant which is a two hour drive. Those things are traveling, so we'll set up traps before we call it a night. Gerald, take blondie here and show her how to set up the spring traps, I'll show Lollypop how to set up the detonator bombs."

I almost strained my throat swallowing what dry spit I had. This guy went about acting like a total ass toward me and now he wants to be alone with me? This ought to be good.

Walking through an endless array of halls, Wonka didn't say much to me. "Just pull the switch back and hold it for three seconds, when you hear beeping, it's been set. Now stick it over on the wall about eight inches away from the one I set. They need to be in close range in order to pick up on each other's trigger signal, then they will all go off at the same time." was all he said in the fifteen minutes we spent together.

After we had set the bombs, he led me outside into the courtyard. I didn't understand why we left the college building, but he seemed like he knew what he wanted to do.

"Whoa!" I exclaimed outloud before running into what looked like an old vintage record store. Wonka followed right behind me.

"I didn't know they had record stores anymore." I said, sifting through old records dating back to the mid 50s. "I thought records went extinct."

Wonka just gave a half smile before going to an old jukebox and putting a quarter in the slot. The jukebox came to life and some sort of bluesy type music began playing, and he seemed to have gotten lost in the song for a moment.

I watched him, his eyelids lowered in a thoughtful manner, fingers gracing ever so lightly on the record's worn out album cover.

"What song is that?" I asked, stepping forward a bit so that he knew I was genuinely curious.

"Nothing takes the place of you, by William Bell. It.. was my mother's favorite song." he replied in a low tone, a tone that told me that he was going through memory lane.

I was encaptured by how gentle he looked, although he stood so brooding over the record rack, with that dusty old jukebox sitting in front of him, lighting up his features with a colorful array of lights.

Butterflies began fluttering in my stomach, and my palm began to sweat. I got a little closer so I could see him a little better. My vision was a little foggy from far off.

He turned his head to look at me, hat ever so lopsided on his bald head. His small smile faded when he looked into my eyes. "So, what's with the weird eyes?"

I blinked a few times before looking away. "Dr. Kordata liked torturing with chemicals. I think he just wanted to bring on some serious pain when he removed my pupils and fucked up my irises. I used to have brown eyes.. now they looked like someone threw bleach in them, a poor attempt to remove the color. He did all of that while I was awake and feeling every torturous, burning and stabbing pain."

Wonka looked guilty about something, but then seemed like he shook it off before turning to me. "I'm sorry.."

I shrugged then looked up at him, the wrinkles in his face seemed deepened by his somber frown. "No big deal. I'm not dead, and I can manage. I mean, after two years, you get used to it.."

He took his hat off then smoothed his hand over his head before turning and walking over to a stool and sitting down. He pat the one next to him and I accepted his invite.

Sitting down, I couldn't help but feel like I was getting what I wanted. The softer side of Wonka.. the considerate side.

"So.. why?" he began, putting a hand on his knee and leaning forward a bit.

"Why.. what?" I asked, confused as to what he wanted to know.

"Why do you want me?"

I was a bit taken back by that question, but I also anticipated it. "I've never seen a man so.. strong and bound in the nature of protecting and being a leader before. I never knew my dad, and I never really was much for being around men. The only men I knew were from the slave camps. Beaten, broken, weak. It became so normal that I thought all men were like that. Broken and weak.

I've never seen a man so determined until I saw you.. and I don't know, it seemed so attractive."

He cracked half of a smile then sat up straight. "You're looking for a white knight to sweep you off of your feet?"

I shook my head then slid my foot slowly up his leg. "More like a black knight to-"

He coughed loudly, then furrowed his brows tightly at me.

"Don't act like you didn't enjoy the moment I touched your bicep." I said, frowning back.

"Wait, what? You never touched my bicep, you weird little girl." he retorted, almost amused.

"Don't you remember the special moment we had behind that lollipop tree? You said: "You like these chocolaty 'ceps huh? Wanna touch?" and I was like: "Senpai noticed me, and now he is letting touch his 'cep.""

Wonka's eyes widened with disbelief, which confused me. "I.. never let you touch me. I only answered your question and ordered you to get in the Wonkavator." Then, he began laughing.

I sat there for a second, then recalled everything that happened. "Well that explained why it happened after I ran into a Lollipop tree branch."

"You're.. a very strange girl." He said, sobering down from his hearty laughter.

"I'm not a girl, Wonka. I'm a woman." I corrected, a little offended by being called a girl, or kid.

"And how old are you exactly?"

"23." Was my proud answer.

He stopped laughing then looked at me for a short moment, a curious look on his face. "Let's call it a night." he got up then limped his way out of the building.

I sat there on the stool, staring down at the floor all the while letting out a calming breath. "How in the hell will I get him to like me? I need to get him to feel attracted to me. But how?" I thought for a moment, lost in wonder until: "Heheheee."

I got up and ran out of the building, I caught a glimps of Wonka limping into the college. I figured he may be residing in a dorm on the opposite end of the hall where we had set the bombs, so I quietly stalked him, passing by room after room
