I approached Noah and asked if we could work on the project at my house after school today. He agreed just as the bell rang I told him my address, but he said he would just catch the first train with me. Usually he gets the third train because he waits for his friends aka the entire football team and all their girlfriends aka the whole cheer squad. I had to admit I was a little nervous about Noah coming to my house even if it was just for a project. My Dad picked us up at the subway station and gave us a lift home. I said, "Dad this is Noah, my project partner" "oh," my Dad said, "For what class" "Mr. Forks" I replied. We finally arrived to my house; I gave Noah a quick tour and then we went up to my room. It was incredibly awkward and I didn't even know how to start the conversation. Then, suddenly Noah said, "Let's take a quick break from the project and get to know each other a little, so it's not so awkward." "Great idea" I replied. He said, "Ladies First." "Oh ok well I'm a really awkward, goofy, silly girl who loves her family and friends. Also I'm really cliche" I said. "Cliche?" he replied. "Yea" I said; "For example Twilight is my absolute favorite movie, my favorite color is pink, and roses are my favorite flower, I think they are beautiful. I love how they come and all sorts of beautiful colors, but my favorite is red because their so beautiful and resemble so many things and I think they are so romantic. I'm a sucker for romantic jesters and stuff. So basically like the things other people find really overrated I adore. How about you?" "I would do anything for my family and friends. I love football and all the guys on the team." he replied. "I've been wanting to ask you... every other guy on the football team is dating someone on the cheer squad and I know you can get any single one of those girls, so why aren't you, you know dating anyone on the cheer squad... that sounded a lot weirder then I meant it to." I said. He laughed and said, "Don't tell anyone, but I think their all to fake, like who is always that peppy and they could be such bitches too." I replied, "It's like you took the words right out of my mouth." We both laughed and then Noah asked for a drink. As I went to the fridge I said, "You know your really cool for a football player; your not an asshole like the other guys." "Thanks" he said. I told him to call me Maddie because he earned it.' Cheers to your non-assholeness" I said. "And to your clicheness MADDIE" he replied making sure to really state the fact he he had called me Maddie. All the sudden I had a really big urge to kiss him and I could tell he did too. We leaned into each other when suddenly my brother opened the door and said, "Wow sorry, dinners ready." "It's ok, I was just leaving" he said. I told him he didn't have to go, but he insisted his mother would want him there for dinner; he seemed in some big rush. I began to wonder if I did something wrong, if I forced myself on him to fast. As we walked downstairs my Mom said, "Sorry Noah, I didn't know you were coming for dinner I would've made more." He said, "It's ok, I was just on my way out. Thanks for letting me come over to work on the project. See you tomorrow Madeline." Then he walked out. My parents asked why he was in such a hurry I told them his Mom expected him for dinner and we lost track of time, but I didn't believe that and all night I'd wonder why he was so disgusted by the fact we almost kissed that he stormed out like he won the lottery and was on his way to pick up the prize money . I could only wonder what tomorrow would bring and how awkward it be between us.
