Preface-

The boy sat on the rooftop, gazing down over the city. The skyline was beautiful, breath-taking. It was just like the first time he saw it.

The blended colours of the sunset and the outline of the London buildings were something he adored observing.

Years before, he would lead his disabled sister up there, to watch the Sun disappear behind the skyscrapers. He had not been able to do that for a long time.

The wind blew his messy brown-blond curly hair away from his face. The cold air made his fingertips and nose numb. He  was freezing to death up there, in a t-shirt during a cold November’s day, but he did not want to leave. He wanted to remember.

Remember the warm summer nights that he spent with Stella up on that roof, enjoying the heat from each other’s company. Remember the peaceful silence between Lia, his sister, and himself, as they gazed at the far horizon.

He wanted to remember his life, feel lost in the past to forget the pain of the present.

That’s all Ashton wanted to do; remember the ones he left behind.
