"Wait wh...what?!" Alex said with shock written all over his face.
"Yeah, I'm stuck with your brother to do this video documentary for the whole school year," I said before taking a large bite into my bologna sandwich.
"Ou...I'm sorry..I know he can be a jerk," Alex said, taking his water bottle out of his drawstring bag.
Alex Johnson had always been my best friend since I could remember. We met in first grade and since then he's been, basically, my one and only best friend. Alex was Liam's brother which sometimes made it awkward when I would go over Alex's house to play video games and things. Nontheless, Alex was my best friend, no matter who he was related to.
"So what are you going to do for the project?"
"I'm not sure yet.." I answered honestly.
"Well did you guys discuss a topic?" Alex asked.
"No..remember your brother is too big of a jerk to talk to me."
"But he's known you since first grade like I have! He should talk to you," Alex said, getting upset slowly.
"Alex, calm down it's fine. And yes, I've known him since first grade but he doesn't know me like you know me."
Alex nodded his head in agreement as he took a sip of his water.
While Liam was Mr.Popular, Alex was more subtle and quiet. His brother often grasped the attention of everyone around him and Alex was always the one who would be silent when it came to talking to other people. He's shy and the complete opposite of Liam.
"So does this mean your going to be like at my house with him instead of me?" Alex asked, confused of course.
"Well, I will be at your house but I don't intend on spending any time with your brother. In fact, I will probably do the whole project by myself and let your brother fail miserably," I said chuckling as I said the last few words.
"Right on," Alex said, holding out his fist for me to ackowledge a fist bump.
We were interrupted by a highly recognizable annoying pest in my ear.
"Well well well, look who we have here..the girl who is going to be with my boyfriend for the whole year working on some lame project," Mandy said while puckering her lips forward.
I didn't even have to turn around in my seat to know that her eyes were piercing down at my back, filled with anger but mostly jealousy.
"I'm just warning you Kate..stay away from Liam," she said threatening me.
"Just lay off Mandy!" I yelled as I turned around to face her. "I'm not going to steal your stupid boyfriend. He's not worth stealing anyways...."
"Ou...that hurts," a familiar voice called from behind Mandy. I could tell almost instantly that it was Liam by the twinge of sarcasm in his voice.
He stepped out into the clear and was looking straight at me. His blue eyes sinking into mine as I began tugging at my clothes, feeling very uncomfortable all of a sudden.
"Well, just stay away from him," Mandy said behind her lips that were covered with cheap dollar store lipstick.
She grabbed Liam's hand and whipped him around to lead him back to their lunch table that was located near the main fountain in front of our school. I must admit that I did feel kind of bad for Liam in the sense that Mandy was so controlling. But then again, it was his fault that he had chosen her to be his girlfriend.
"I cannot stand Mandy...no change that, I cannot stand either one of them," I said to Alex when the two annoying pests left.
"I can tolerate Liam because, well,he's my brother so I have to tolerate him...but Mandy is just such a female dog."
