"So...." Alex began talking as he shoved his sandwich into his mouth. "How was your date last night?"

I looked up at him, trying to read his expression. He wouldn't make eye contact with me, which made me very aware that this conversation was one-hundred and twenty percent awkward for him.

"Alex, we don't have to talk about it if it makes you uncomfortable," I told him calmly. Alex was always so easy to read, like a book. We had been friends ever since we were little kids, so I knew every single thing about him whether he knew I did or didn't.

"No, it's okay. I want to make sure my brother didn't do anything.." he stopped midsentence trying to find the right word to use. "Bad..."

I let out a laugh, "No Alex. He didn't do anything bad." I saw Alex relax a little as he sat back in his lunch chair and took a sip out of his blue Powerade. Ever since Alex found out about Liam and I being together, we felt kind of distant. A kind of distant that I didn't really like.

He had always been the one I could talk to about anything, but now that his brother was part of my life, it made it ten times for awkward to talk about Liam with him. Maybe, I could find Alex a girlfriend and I could become friends with her so we could vent about them both.

Liam, just his name was confusing me. No, we weren't a definite couple but we did have a date. An amazing date at that. I don't know if I wanted to be a couple or just be a 'thing.' Sure, Liam was known for not really having girlfriends, so I don't know what made me think that maybe I could be the one girl who Liam wanted to stay with.

"How's your project going?" Alex asked, actually looking like he wanted to know about how it was going. He was usually known for just asking me things to make me happy.

"It's good," I said simply. "Mr.D wants us to have a portion of it due Friday so we need to get working on it." Which was true, we needed to get working on it. Hopefully though, this time it wouldn't be as awkward as it was last time. Maybe we could get our project done early, seeing that we both had changed so much already.

Or so I thought.

---------------------------------------------------

I sat in photography staring at the empty seat next to me. Liam hadn't shown up to class, but I could've sworn that I had seen him during the school day at some point. Unless, he had some twin that neither him nor Alex told me about.

Mr.D was talking about something related to our projects, but I found it incredibly hard to concentrate on anything he was saying. I was too distracted with my own thoughts of where was Liam, was he okay?

"Kate," I heard my name being called out suddenly, breaking me out of my daze.

"Yeah," I replied looking at Mr.D who was standing in front of my table.

"Are you alright? You looked spaced out while I was talking." Leave it to Mr.D to notice me spacing out. He noticed every single thing. For instance, if you were wearing unmatching socks, he would call you out on it and stir up a whole conversation about why you were wearing two different socks. He was just that kind of person.

"I'm fine Mr.D. Just tired," I lied trying not to show him what I was really spacing out about.

"Alright then. How is your project going?" he asked me, suspiciously eyeing the empty seat next to me which should be occupied with Liam's body.

"It's good. Liam's just not here today," I said, trying to cover up for him the best I could. Mr.D looked at me curiously before nodding and turning away to go talk to another group who was brainstorming still. Some people hadn't even begun their projects yet.

I took out my phone and found the contact I needed and began typing underneath my table so I wouldn't get in trouble.

Liam, where are you?

No reply. I sat there restlessly as I kept glancing down at my phone hoping he would message me back. But he didn't, not one single message in response. He couldn't have been ignoring me? I mean, he said that our date was the best night of his life practically. He almost tried to kiss me for God's sake!

As soon as the bell rang, signaling the end of the period, I stormed out of the classroom and down the hallway. Determined to try and find Liam and ask why he wasn't in class.

As I turned a corner towards the science classes wing in our school, I stopped frozen. A few people bumped into me from the back as I stopped abruptly, causing me to stumble forward some. One person really slammed into me, causing me to plunge forward. I would've taken their head off for doing that but I couldn't speak.

Not when right in front of me was Mandy kissing the boy who didn't have enough time to answer my text message...

I know that this chapter is boring, but it's kind of just a filler since I haven't updated in foreverrrrr! I honestly forgot about this story and I'm so so so sorry. I've just been so crazy busy! I hope you all don't hate me for what's about to happen. And I know that this constant Liam being a jerk thing keeps coming into play, but trust me everything will work out somehow in the end. Thank you for reading though :)
