David
I slammed the laptop shut and sighed heavily leaning back in my chair. She was really a celebrity.
Delly Jada Newman.
I don't know why I bothered searching, but I had the urge to know who she really was.
She asked me to pray for her and I didn't want to believe that a nineteen-year-old girl like her could want to take her life when she lives a life every girl dreams of having.
"Why are you just sitting here?"
Granny asked peeking through the ajar door staring at me. She was having a bowl of chocolate chipped cookies in hand.
"Hey Granny"
I greeted sitting up straight and I changed my expression so she couldn't read what I was actually feeling.
"Are you okay?"
She asked placing the bowl on my work desk beside the lamp and crossed her arms.
"I'm fine" I said softly.
She raised her brows knowing something was wrong and I sighed getting ready to explain but was cut off when she said:
"Is it that girl you brought home last night?"
She asked.
"What? No! It's not that"
I protested trying to get myself out of this. She already knew I was pretending and let out a light snicker.
"Then what is it?"
"It is her.....You know that singer that Ally listens to?"
She was clueless as she furrowed her brows questionably.
"You left me in pieces~" I said in a horrible sing-song voice. It was the only way for her to know the Pieces singer and understand half of what I was talking about.
Delly Newman was Ally's favourite Pop and Hip Pop singer, songwriter and dancer, since she was fourteen years old and she still goes to her concerts.
"Oh! That lovely girl is her? Oh, you've seen her again haven't you?"
"Yes. She invited me into her home and shared with me a small part of her story"
"And you're wondering why?"
She asked grinning. I knew what that grin meant, and it didn't mean anything good. My eyes widened and I got to my feet walking over to my bed.
"She asked me to pray for her"
I told her. Granny made her way over to me and sat down beside me. She swung her arm over my shoulder and pulled me in a warm embrace.
"But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them"
She quoted from 2 Corinthians 4:4.
I know why she used that specific scripture and I know for what reason she did it. I sighed and closed my eyes as she stroked my head.
Delly
I was hitting my hand against my thigh. My eyes were closed as I whispered calming words to myself.
There were screams as the hosts exited the stage and people cheered as I was the one to come up next.
I was on the small round stage standing there with wedge black sneakers. A short mesh sleeved NY short leather black dress covered my body and I wore a NY black and white snapback over my wavy hair with hula hoop earrings stabbing into my ears.
