//Sorry if it seems a bit shitty, haven't been into writing a full length story in a while. Vote. Comment. Thanks. (: Also sorry if its short, chapters will get longer.//
Oriel busied herself with her phone as her history instructor went on and on about the Vampire/Human war in the dark ages. She already knew about this, it was what shaped the future between vampires and humans forever and now there were two dominant species, vampires and humans but of course vampires were much better. Oriel began to smile as she looked up as her instructor talked about the treaty that sealed a truce between vampires and humans, proposed by vampires of course. They were smart, elegant, faster, stronger and better than humans in every way possible.
The instructor soon turned to Oriel and her eyes widened as she looked around. The eyes of the other students looked around and at her as well. What? She started to say but stopped as they teacher gestured towards the door. "You have company Princess." The instructor nodded in her direction before dismissing her. Oriel rose a brow, grabbing her bookbag and walked out of the classroom, heels clicking on her way out. What was going on? It had to be urgent if they were taking her out of class. Nothing gets any of the students out of Moonview Academy so quickly, the private all-royal vampire and human/vampire school prided itself on it's academics but most importantly discipline.
Outside the door waiting for her were an officer and her advisor, Eleanor. "What is it Ellie? Can't you see I'm in class?"
"Yes, your highness, I see but the Queen.."
Oriel looked between her brunette advisor and the tall male officer. She didn't know him but knew he was apart of the royal police by his crowned badge. "What about my sister?" She asked, holding her head high as she tossed her long black mane behind her back, arms folded across her chest now. "I'm sorry, ma'am, uh Princess. But the Queen has been in a terrible accident." The officer spoke up now.
Oriel rose a brow, trying her best to look concerned. "What happened?"
"Werewolves near the city, attacked her in her summer home in Florida over the winter holiday."
Oriel's face didn't change as her mouth set into a hard line. "And what of Nina?"
"She was killed, your highness. She's dead."
Oriel nodded and turned from them as she took a few steps down the hallway. "I need a moment." She spoke through the lump forming in her throat as her head now began to hang.
Adrenaline and anxiety set into her being as an excitement began to consume her and she almost began panting. Her sister was dead? Which meant now she was queen? She could ascend the throne? She almost smiled but fought the urge and instead began to cry on que as she heard her advisor walk up to her. Her dead heart was the only thing she heard in the hallway, good the officer had left.
"I'm so sorry, Oriel." She whispered, placing a hand on her shoulder. Oriel shook her head, pushing her sliding tiara back in place. "When's my coronation?"
"When would you like it?"
"Right after the funeral." She nodded, holding her head high again. "No, no, a-two weeks after." She nodded, turning to her advisor with a smile. "So people don't think it's too soon. I mean, I'll be grieving right?"
Eleanor nodded, fixing her glasses onto her face properly. "Right." She whispered, tugging lightly at her pony tail.
"I didn't know it would happen so soon. I mean I wouldn't want it this way but I did want to be queen." She grinned. "Nina was sick anyway, they put her out of her misery." She nodded, biting her lip. "But don't get me wrong, Ellie. I am sad my sister's gone, but what do you do when your dog, dies? You get a new puppy. And this is my puppy." She nodded, allowing excitement to take over her features.
She knew her advisor probably thought she was crazy but she had been dreaming about this day for ages and Ellie had been watching over her since she was 13.
"I can't wait to be Queen." A young Oriel said, swinging her leg underneath the table as she sipped on a cup of blood. Her mother and father smiled to each other. "It's not all fun and games, dear. That's a lot of responsibility." Her mom chimed in and Oriel rolled her eyes. "Exactly, besides I'm firstborn and so I get the throne after mom." Nina said, proudly and Oriel huffed, looking over to her older sister. "Sure, you do." Oriel said and took another sip. Her parents just laughed and clanking their wine glasses together. Eleanor stood by Oriel's side closely and Oriel looked up at her as she eyed the young Princess. "You'll love serving me when I'm Queen. I'll make things how they should be."
Oriel smiled thinking about her younger self. That was exactly what she was going to do. "Anything else, Ellie?"
"Your parents would like to meet with you about tighter protection detail."
Oriel rolled her eyes. "Oh, ok."
"Yes, they want to talk to you about a human team of bodyguards we've sought out together." Hearing the 'H' word, Oriel's breath caught in her throat.
"A human what?"
