The kiss seemed to last ages and when Oriel broke the kiss, they were both out of breath. The audience was silent and Oriel found her face paling in the light of it all, she was nervous and scared and yet she never felt more relieved. "Yes, you saw and heard it right. I'm in love with this woman and I don't care about these silly rules any longer. I'm changing things and today, any vampire is allowed to love anyone he or she wants no matter the gender or species. It's ridiculous that I should have to hide just because of what society thinks about my relationship well I'm telling you, no one has any say on who I or anyone else wants to date. So this is the first new rule I'm creating and if you don't like it, you can leave." The audience was still silent until Ash started clapping and then the whole stage and the audience follow suit. She heard cheering and whistling and the clapping only got louder. Oriel looked back at Ash and grinned as she smiled back. It was time for a change in their world.

The ceremony was dismissed to the after-party in the next room where there were refreshments, light music and chatting going on. Oriel had walked inside, her arm looped in Ash's tight and she was still nervous as to how everyone would react. The ceremony was broadcast all over the country. Many people came up to thank her and even some of the elders were glad for the new rule. She got a few looks from some people, especially King Mitch and she watched as he eyed her with a glare on his face as if mad he lost something because of her. Oriel walked over to the punch bowl to grab a cup when her parents walked over to join them. She poured herself some of the spiked punch before passing Ash a glass. "Why, hell there, dear." Her mother smiled and looked nervously over to Ash. "And Ms. Sollers." She nodded and Ash bowed slightly. "Mrs. Brix."

Oriel bit her lip nervously, releasing it to take a much needed sip of her drink. Her dad had an arm wrapped around her mother tight and he only smiled, much more calm than her mother and he kindly ask if Ash could pass him two cups. "So, uh, so you and Ash, is that correct? You're, um, girlfriends? She's your chosen mate now?" Her mother asked hesitantly. Oriel nodded, watching Ash help her dad with their drinks. "Yes, we are and yes I did." She shrugged. "We've been together a few months now."

"Oh okay, um, how sweet. So um, are you, er lesbian or?" Her mom swallowed as she took a cup from her husband who began talking to Ash about how she saved Oriel and thanked her. "I'm bisexual."

"Oh, alright." Her mother nodded and took a sip of her drink. Oriel watched her closely she could tell something was on her mind as she looked everywhere except her face. "Mom, what's wrong? Do you have a problem with us?"

"Oh, no, no, no. Ash is a fine woman, I'm glad you picked her and you're just lovely for her. I just thought I'd be getting grandchildren that's all.. a possible heir down the line." Her mother shrugged, smiling softly at her now. Oriel shrugged, looking over to Ash as she conversed with her father. "We could adopt later on or one of us could get inseminated. There's options mom, don't worry."

"Oh, yes! You're right, that's just grand. Well, I..I can't lie its going to take some getting used to but as long as you're happy with her. I'm happy with her too."

The conversation between Ash and her father seemed to fizzle out and they both turned to Oriel's mother, listening. "I am grateful for your protection over our daughter, Ash. Who knows what could have happened.. so thank you very much."

Oriel's father nodded. "I was just telling her how thankful we are that she found her, anything you need, Ash. We will be here for you and dearest Oriella, if you do in fact love this woman as you say you do and want her, I'm behind you a hundred percent." Her father leaned in to hug her and Oriel let go of Ash's arm to hug her dad close. "Thanks."

"You're always welcome, honey. I have no problem with who you fall in love with. As long as you're happy that's all that matters."

"We'll let you both get back to enjoying the moment." Her mother chimed in and hugged her daughter as well before hugging Ash tight. "Thanks again, dear."

"It's no problem, Mrs. Brix. I'll always protect her."

Her mother smiled and took her husband's arm again before he pointed as another couple a few feet away and they walked over to converse with them.

Ash sighed and Oriel rose a brow looking over to her before taking a pull from her drink. "That made me nervous." She chuckled softly, running a hand through her hair. "I didn't think my parents would be upset but you never know with them. My dad didn't like humans much either. Seems you've changed his mind too."

Ash shook her head. "You changed his mind, what you said up there probably changed a lot of their minds. I'm glad someone was finally bold enough to say it. You don't know lots of vampires feel the way you both did but now lets hope that all changes. As well as situations with the werewolves.."

Oriel rose a brow, nodding. "Right, to stop something like this from happening again but we can't stop centuries of feuding between our kind. Vampires were made because werewolves used to terrorize humans relentlessly in the olden days. If anything strengthening the bond between humans and vampires is best right now."

Ash bit her cheek and shrugged, nodding. "Perhaps you're right. It's hard to change something like that."

She looked away for a moment, thinking before setting her cup down and took Oriel's setting it down as well. "I want to talk to you about something, Oriel." She offered her hand and Oriel nodded, talking it and followed her outside. There were a few reporters hanging around, conversing with each other. Oriel also saw a few paparazzi and Ash led her away to a garden just by the church. There were several different types of flowers and a gazebo stood in the middle. They quietly made their way over to it and sat down. "What's wrong?" Oriel asked, her nerves getting to her and her heart began to pound. "I was just thinking about a few things now that we have your parents blessing per say, not that it mattered." Oriel nodded, she'd love Ash no matter what. "But I love you so much and I want to be with you and care for you and cherish you forever." Her fingers laced with hers and Oriel swallowed, excitement filling her being. "As much as I enjoy being human, I want to be there for you always and I hate being so fragile despite my training and skills. I'm still human, mushy and soft." Oriel giggled softly. "Very soft.." Ash blushed deeply. "So, I think, I want you to turn me into a vampire." Oriel grinned, continuing to giggle and she snuggled into her side. "Whatever path you choose in life, I want to be there with you. Have you thought about life after graduation." Oriel's smile faltered a bit and she bit her lip, becoming nervous again. She hadn't any ideas before Ash came into her life and now she knew what she wanted to do. "I want to figure skate professionally." Oriel smiled and Ash's face lit up. "I'm finally believing what you said. "Perhaps I am pretty good. I just thought I'd be queen and that's it but no, I want to skate too."

"I'm glad you chose to, you're amazing." Ash lifted a hand to stroke Oriel's cheek. "And now I can see you be amazing forever." Oriel leaned in quickly just as Ash did and they caught each other's lips in a passionate kiss. Oriel's arms wrapped around Ash's neck tight and Ash pulled Oriel into her lap, holding her tight against her as they prolonged the kiss and the two ignored the sounds of cameras clicking in the background. Oriel melted into the moment, drowning in Ash's scent and her love. Her mind running through when they first met and through everything they had been through to now. First her hate and now her love, she was glad her mother had picked Ash to protect her, she wouldn't have it any other way.
