Nicky Green hid his pain behind a bright smile. A man with too much weight on his shoulders, he spent his days making sure no one else had to handle their pain alone, like he had to. A psychologist who moonlighted as a weapons designer, providing tech for the other superhero affiliations that weren't the Avengers, it was safe to say he had grown up to have a pretty successful life, one where he was happy, for the most part. There was nothing more he needed, he just wasn't always happy. That was okay.

Enter Sam Wilson. Sam Wilson, a man whose path had crossed with Nicky's more times than he remembered, their roads once again converged when he was given the okay from Tony Stark and finally felt somewhat safe enough to come out of his more extreme hiding, trying to find a sense of normalcy again. That led him right into the bewildered and unprepared arms of the twenty-six year old psychologist.

Thus begins the epic romantic comedy that was their story, the two going about their days as regular adults with not-so regular jobs and pasts. As time goes on and Nicky's past comes back to haunt him, it raises the question of who Nicky Green really is. Because Nicky Green is not a happy man. And this is not a happy story. But it's not all sad, either. It's an almost happy story about an almost happy man. Makes for an alright story in the end.
