IT WAS A LAZY DAY IN THE LOFT. Everyone was still there, no one had yet left to return to some farm in the middle of nowhere to keep hiding, or to go to a country that had only, just one year prior, announced its advanced technology and hidden secrets to visit a healing friend. Everyone was just lounging about and relaxing.
"It's like I don't even know you anymore," Sam ranted, motioning towards Steve who was laughing harder than Nicky had seen him, clutching his stomach as Sam continued to tear apart his current appearance.
"You draw more attention to yourself now, people are confused," Rhett added, and Sam crowed, demanding to know if the man liked the new version of Steve.
The lighter blond only shrugged, looking at his boyfriend. "He wears the Captain America crocs I bought for him, the least I can do is love him for who he is. Because I do, I swear." He reached out to touch Steve's chest, the younger man scoffing and batting his hands away, mumbling something about them being in public.
Nicky laughed and looked over at Sam, reaching out and touching his nose. While he and the man had their fair share of PDA, Sam never once pressured Nicky into doing anything he didn't want to, and that had made Nicky all the more comfortable.
"You guys are so cute, it makes me sick."
The four all looked up to find Terran standing in clothes that actually fit him, wearing a blue button up and shorts, his sunglasses once again perched on his nose with groceries in his arms. He set them down easily, taking off his glasses and letting them hang over his shirt.
"I miss my girlfriend," he sighed, looking down at the floor, and the four all shared a look; Terran had made it very clear he had no idea where Natasha was, which had to be difficult for him.
"We miss her too," Sam said, motioning towards him and Steve, trying to let Terran know that he wasn't alone, and the taller man gave them both a thankful smile, though there was some sadness behind it.
"You know," Nicky said, shifting around, falling into Sam's lap, eyes trained on Terran, "I still wanna know the whole story as to what exactly happened. You know, from when you left to when you never came back."
Terran pointed towards him. "I can taste your bitterness from here, and I don't appreciate that, young man."
Nicky stuck his tongue out at him, and Rhett laughed, leaning back against Steve's chest, the man having turned himself into a kind of backrest. "Tell us the story, Terran, I wanna know how you met your hot asexual girlfriend."
"Nat's asexual?" Steve asked, eyes wide, Sam looking equally interested, "I didn't know that."
"Yeah," Terran said, "She's panromantic asexual. She explained it to me and I just gave her the words, since she didn't know them. She's also really hot and scary and I miss her, life's so boring, there's no one to lovingly throw granola bars at my face. That isn't Clint."
Sam raised an eyebrow. "If you need a rebound, I'll be happy to have some target practice."
Nicky nudged him, frowning. "Please consult me before you decide to expand our relationship."
"Tell us the story!" Rhett called, interrupting the emerging conversation, Nicky chiming in his agreement, along with the other two men, their eyes all trained on the oldest man who laughed, ducking his head.
"You guys wanna know?" he asked, and they all nodded eagerly, shifting around and getting comfortable, Rhett and Nicky leaning against their significant soldiers who held them close, their eyes all trained on Terran.
The blond laughed, pulling up one of the more comfortable chairs, rubbing his hands and clearing his throat.
"Okay, get ready. It's a wild ride."
