"A state in the grip of neo-colonialism is not master of its own destiny. It is this factor that makes neo-colonialism such a serious threat to world peace."

- Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, 1st President of Ghana (1957-1966)

"Patriotism is a thing of the heart. A man is a patriot if his heart beats true to his country."

- Charles E. Jefferson"Ethical Aspects of Conscription and the War"

"Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel. "

- Samuel Johnson, Boswell's Life of Dr. Johnson

"The essence of patriotism is the sacrifice of personal interest to public welfare."

- WILLIAM H. BURNHAM, New Outlook, vol. 90

There are issues in our private lives that are threats to our own private space and peace. We wish we could shut ourselves in and deal with them while the world outside us whizzes by and goes on with its hustle and bustle - because we don't care. We are so sick and tired of caring about what happens to the rest of the millions in the state we are a part of, the thousands in our neighbourhood, the few in our compounds.

But there are instances when we have to sacrifice our little house flies buzzing over our little steaks and start worrying about the army of locusts that are blocking the sun's rays with the eclipse of a gigantic swarm above our heads. The nations we are in are suffering some plagues that appear to be caused by a deliberate dump of toxins into our drinking waters and food from the government - from super powers that are controlling them behind the scenes with insufferable leverage. Africa might be thought of as a continent saved from from witchcraft, superstition and killer diseases through the advent of modern science and technology from the west, but there is a state the colonists failed to see the average African in before they dumped the Trojan Horse of new knowledge into his negro skull. He was not lost. He was merely expressing an adaptation to a natural habitat he could have learned to explore himself, but the depth of human nature never ceases to amaze. It proves to be predictable until it has wreaked unthinkable havoc.

Many activists and freedom fighters have blamed the whites for the hell the continent has become, but the truth is that the toxins we are seeing in our systems did not come in the colour white. It is intrinsically black in nature. We created it - an extension of our very motives and minds. We want to destroy our own kind and climb onto the heap of bodies we have fallen to boast as kings of the hill. We want to deceive many and inhibit the development of the youth and control the minds of those who are still not within the reach of quality education. We want to keep the gateway to the continent open to the world so that they can swarm in with their tech and dump them into "Trump's shit-hole". Now the radiations in the tech dump of the world are becoming lethal, yet they have become a necessary evil because our leaders seem to have no choice. They cannot preach patriotism anymore because they have forgotten the colour black.

But the white saviour white Messiah stories are overrated. The salvation of the black people is not in the hands of a white man like in Blood Diamond and The Legend of Tarzan. People like Nelson Mandela and Dr. Kwame Nkrumah have proven that the war against neo-colonialism can still be won -

- by black people with renewed hearts and minds.

But don't think about just men. The age of misogyny in storytelling is ending. God can use women too - because He does not see the difference when it comes to assignment.

This is what Ex Trilogy has sought to preach - the freedom of the black man's mind. Don't hate. Just see the light of hope through the pages and consider this as a stand or a mere opinion. Either way, I believe I have achieved my aim by stirring an inclination inside you to any of the poles.

Have a good read.
