I think it makes people feel better, knowing or believing blindly that there's a greater power out there, watching over them.

It gives them a sense of purpose, or an undiscovered meaning to their life. Perhaps out of the billions of people out there, they have some sort of destiny that was bestowed upon them for some reason or another.

It helps them deny the pointlessness of everything. The pointlessness of their life.

It puts something in front of them to contemplate and search for. It's an egg hunt for an egg that never existed.

To most, it's better off living in ignorant bliss, searching for a purpose that isn't tangible, simply because it's easier to fathom.

Some people die living that way, believing that the next place they go to will either be an endless bliss, or an endless suffering, only to be met with nothingness behind that mysterious door they had contemplated since the start.

But if we were to except our absurd reality, and very soon come to embrace it, we would finally be free to find our own individual meanings in life.
