Tyler walked down the sidewalk of the park, feeling the bright summer sun gleaming down onto him through the branches of the tall trees above him. He had a journal in hand, in which he would write down his ideas and feelings, along with a pen in his other hand.

Tyler had been feeling a lot lately. It was a combination of sadness and confusion, but more confusion. He felt that taking the time to write his feelings and thoughts down could maybe somehow help him figure out exactly what had happened those few months ago.

As he walked further, the sight of the basketball court he would always play at came into view. He hadn't been there in months. Not since she had been there with him.

He looked to the side, noticing the small brown bench. His eyes then adverted to the basketball hoop nearest to the bench. That was where it all began. It's what started it all, for the better, or for the worse. In Tyler's view, it was for the worse.

He sat down on the bench, and immediately a wave of sadness washed over him. But it was followed by the same feeling he had been feeling for months. Confusion.

He let her in, but she pushed him away. Why did she have to break him?

Tyler skipped through the pages of his journal until he reached a blank page, and then clicked his pen open as he brought it to the paper.

Dear past Tyler,

Maybe you shouldn't have gone to the park that day at all, he scribbled down. Or maybe you shouldn't have turned your head towards her. It didn't matter how beautiful her eyes were. You didn't have to stare at her long enough for her to walk up to you. For her to say something to you. Maybe if you hadn't looked at her, things would be easier. You may have thought she changed you for the better, but things obviously didn't turn out that way.

Tyler sighed, looking up from the page to the nearest basketball hoop, thinking about the first time he saw her there. It was about a year ago, only last summer.

Tyler needed to get his mind off things. That's why he was there, at the basketball court. Even though he decided he didn't want to play it anymore after high school, he still had the skills that he learned back when he was a teenager.

Since Tyler was the only one on the court, the only sound he could hear was the basketball repeatedly being bounced off the ground and into the hoop every now and then.

But a few minutes later, there was another sound. The sound of someone's footsteps walking a few feet away from where Tyler was standing.

Tyler looked up curiously, immediately noticing a girl with bright blonde hair taking a seat on the bench that wasn't too far away from him. As she sat down and pulled out a book to read, it almost seemed like she didn't know that Tyler was there at all. She hadn't looked over to him once.

Tyler shrugged it off and began to repeatedly shoot the basketball into the net, but every few seconds or so, he would look over to the girl. There was something about her that for some reason interested Tyler, and he couldn't stop himself from taking another look at her.

Even though his eyes were occupied with looking at the girl, he still managed to throw the basketball, not even looking as the ball flew through the air.

The girl finally looked up, for what seemed like the first time.

Her eyes were the first thing that caught Tylers attention. They were crystal blue, and bright like a beautiful ocean. Tyler felt like he couldn't take his eyes away from hers, until he realized that she was looking right at him.

Embarrassed, Tyler turned around, but just as he turned back around, he was hit smack in face with the basketball he had just thrown a few seconds ago.

He yelped a little in pain, and brought his hand to the bridge of his nose, where he had felt the pain the most. His eyes were looking at the ground, trying to avoid any looks that the girl might have been giving him. But then he felt someone's presence in front of him, so he slowly looked back up, his hand still over his nose.

"Hey, are you okay?" The blue eyed girl asked him, putting a hand on his shoulder to comfort him. Tyler was kind of surprised to see her helping, he expected her to keep to herself and continue reading the book she had brought with her. But now she was right in front of him, and he felt even more embarrassed, to say the least. A girl had just noticed him staring at her, and then she saw him get hit in the face with a basketball.

"Uh, yeah I'm fine," Tyler replied nervously.
"Thanks."

"No problem," the girl smiled, and for some reason it caused Tyler to feel like he was melting. "Maybe you should look while you shoot," she laughed a bit, causing Tyler to smile.

"I don't usually miss a shot," he stated, picking up the basketball that was lying next to his feet.

"Is that so?" The girl giggled, and looked over at Tyler for his response.

"Mhm," he nodded, getting in position to shoot the ball. He couldn't be all talk, he had to impress her by scoring this one.

"Well, I guess that's good. Don't wanna ruin that cute face of yours by getting hit by a ball all of the time," she teased, smirking as Tyler turned towards her, a puzzled look on his face.

"Are you flirting with me?" The brunette asked confusingly, raising an eyebrow. Why would a girl that he just met call him cute out of nowhere?

"No! Just because I complimented you doesn't mean I'm flirting with you," she laughed, causing Tyler to feel stupid for assuming things. How could he just automatically think that a beautiful girl was interested in him?

"Anyways," the girl started, snatching the ball away from Tyler's hands with a smile, "if you're such a baller, why don't you teach me some things?" She suggested, causing Tyler to freeze in his place for a second.

"Y-yeah, sure," Tyler nodded, trying to play things cool even though he felt like a nervous wreck inside.

"I'm not exactly sure how to explain things, but just hold it like this," Tyler told her, and showed her by doing it himself.

"And uh, shoot it like this," he said, and the girl watched as he threw the ball through the air. It slightly hit the backboard before falling through the net, and Tyler was relieved that he didn't make a fool of himself by missing. He turned towards the girl, an obvious smirk on his face.

"See? I never miss," he stated smugly.

"So what are you, some sort of basketball superstar?" She asked teasingly as she bent down to pick up the ball.

"Actually, no. Probably the opposite," he told her, and before she could respond, she threw the ball, and they both watched it fall through the net.

"Nice shot," Tyler commented, and the blue eyed girl just gave him a slight nod in response.

"If you're not a basketball superstar, what do you do?" She asked, curious to know more about Tyler.

"I'm in a band," he stated simply, and the girl smiled. Tyler hadn't known the girl for long, but he did know that the girl, whatever her name may be, had the most beautiful smile. Not to mention her crystal blue eyes, too.

The two of them talked for a while after that. In fact, they talked until it began to get dark outside.

They were about to go their separate ways, but the blonde haired girl turned around before she walked away.

"By the way, my name is Jenna," she smiled.

"Tyler," the brunette responded.
