Tyler took the note and placed it back inside the case, shutting it. He took a deep breath as he started the car, backing out and beginning to drive down the road. The car was completely silent, except for the soft sound of the engine that calmed Tyler as he drove. Even the streets seemed to be quiet and deserted. Only a few other cars were out tonight.
Tyler didn't know where he was driving to at the moment. He could go home and finally try to get some sleep, but he didn't think he'd be getting much of it if he tried. But home was really his only other option at the moment. Unless he wanted to see her.
He told himself that it was absolutely ridiculous. He read the note, he knew she left.
He knew that he would get his hopes up only to find that she hadn't even come home yet. It would be completely pointless. But when had that ever stopped him before? He shrugged it off and made the bold choice to go. He knew that he would make himself do it one day, so why not right now?
He found himself already driving in the direction of her house. He tried to shut off his mind for the next few minutes. He wasn't going to stop himself from going.
Soon after, he was driving by the many houses. The street lamps lit up the neighborhood, but not a single person was outside. It was silent.
He stopped by the familiar house that he had only been in a few times. He noticed the light was on in one window, but he didn't know for sure if it was her. Suddenly the light curtains were pushed aside, and he immediately noticed her. His heart skipped a beat, and before he could process what was going on, he saw the girl run out of the view of the window.
He saw her open the front door and slowly close it behind her, then walking down the driveway. Without thinking, Tyler quickly got out of the car, slammed the door shut and rushed up to the girl. He stopped on the driveway in front of her.
He looked her up and down. She looked different now. Her hair was blonde. Natural and beautiful, the color of summertime. The warm feeling of sunshine filtering through the trees.
He reached his hand out, placing it on top of her's just to make sure he wasn't imagining all of this. When he felt her familiar warm touch, he knew she was real. He breathed an inaudible sigh of relief. This was real. The girl that had disappeared for months was right in front of him, touching him.
"It's you," Tyler rasped, intertwining his fingers with hers. He squeezed her hand, a smile forming in the corner of his lips. A rosy blush spread across his cheeks.
"It's me," she smiled in return, bringing a hand up to Tyler's cheek. Her fingers traced his jawline until she finally cupped his cheek. He brought his hand up, placing it on top of hers. "I'm sorry."
"Don't talk," Tyler stated quietly. "Let me have this moment." He stared into her crystal blue eyes. This is what he wanted. He wanted to drown into her ocean blue eyes and never return, because as long as he was with her, he was content.
"Can I do something?" Jenna asked. Tyler was confused for a second, but then soon remembered that he had once asked something similar. He quickly nodded.
Without hesitation, Jenna leaned in, their lips crashing against each other's. It was more passionate than any kiss they've ever shared before, and definitely longer. Tyler could feel Jenna smiling into it, and he pulled away as he laughed quietly.
"Tyler, I need to tell you something," she stated, her voice sounding more serious. Tyler instantly began to feel worried. She was leaving again. She was moving away, and she wasn't coming back.
"What- what is it?" He asked, the anxiety obvious in his voice. Jenna quickly shook her head, bringing a hand to Tyler's chest in comfort.
"It's nothing bad, don't worry." Tyler nodded, her touch calming him down. "I've been afraid of feeling this way my whole life. I told myself that I'd never fall for someone because it was too risky. I was scared of getting hurt. And I never had to worry about it before... until I met you."
"I instantly liked you Tyler. You're just a likable person. But over time, I felt something different that I've never felt before. I tried so hard to deny it, to ignore it, but I couldn't. So when you finally confronted my about it... I ran off. And for that, I'm sorry." Her voice was trembling as she spoke, so Tyler brought his hand to hers as a way to comfort her. A way to tell her that she doesn't have to feel afraid.
"Where I'm going with this, Tyler, is that I love you. I've tried denying it for so long now, but I just can't help it," she breathed, looking up to meet his soft brown eyes. "I love you."
Tyler had been waiting to hear those words ever since he got to really know this girl. She told him love was pointless, but here she was, admitting she loved him. Did that mean he made it worth it? Did he really mean that much to her?
"I love you too," he replied, smiling uncontrollably. Joy spread throughout his body, something he couldn't have even imagined he would feel today.
He took both of her hands in his own, intertwining their fingers together. He pulled her close, and closed the space between them with the faintest whisper of a kiss. It was tiny and innocent, a memory they could constantly play back in their minds for whenever they needed reassurance. It was perfect.
Their lips parted, but their faces stood close together. Her nose tickled his, their hands still held tightly together.
"I didn't know it was possible to feel this way. You proved me wrong," Jenna told him, her voice just above a whisper.
"I guess it takes someone to come around," Tyler responded, his eyes staring directly into hers. Normally he would feel intimidated by her shining orbs, but he couldn't feel more content than he did right now.
She was truly his medicine. Her presence was a simple cure to all bad things in Tyler's life. She was everything good in the world, all that Tyler could ask for. She was an angel. She was his remedy.
