-Chapter Nine-

Percy took a shaky breath and slowly rolled his sleeves back down, hiding the veins that were starting to spread. He was running out of time. He didn't need a watch to tell him that. Even if there was no timer he would still feel his strength slowly waning as the minutes ticked by. It was honestly pretty agonizing. Both mentally and physically.

The feeling of your death slowly approaching you. Not too fast that you don't have time to react, yet not too slow that the idea always lingers in your mind.

He hated it. He hated every single second of it. The feeling has amplified the longer they took. Along with the constant time jumps that constantly drained him, he felt like literal death.

Any second he could've passed out, he was on the verge of absolute self-combustion. Yet he couldn't. No matter how hard he tried he just couldn't. He wanted to pass out, he really did. To just take a breather and momentarily forget all the troubles that were plaguing him. Call it self preservation or anything really, he just couldn't stand idly by as his death slowly looked over him, ready to claim his soul.

He calmed his nerves, and took a deep breath, controlling all of his emotions, trying not to let the nervousness and anxiety take over.

He fixed his sleeve, not even daring to look again. He didn't need another reminder of the death clock that was looming over him figuratively.

Percy walked back to the house, opening the door and slowly shutting it behind him with no problem.

Yorath was conversing with the lady, presumably talking about every small detail that may be of use to them. Yorath looked at Percy, raising an eyebrow as if asking a silent question.

"Ready?" Percy asked the million-dollar question.

"Nope."

"Thought so."

"Anyways, shall we go now?" Percy added. Yorath gave a nod.

"Wait, you guys are actually going to try and defeat the-" she started but was immediately met by two stares and two nods.

"You're going to get yourselves killed!" She reasoned, not letting the two souls that she tried to save merely walk off to their demise.

"Better now than later," Percy said dismissively.

"Well if you're going then I'm coming with you!" She tried convincing them. The two brothers shared a worried look as if having a mental conversation.

"No." The two said in unison. The lady looked absolutely gobsmacked.

"Excuse me?" She choked out.

"That is an unnecessary risk that you should not take." Yorath tried to explain.

"So no, we decline your offer." He confirmed.

"But you're still teenagers, you still have your whole life to live." She tried to talk them out of it. The two brothers merely smirked at each other.

"Lady, we are much older than we look. We'll be fine." Yorath added and turned to Percy.

"Ready?" He asked. Percy gave a shrug and opened the door, walking out with Yorath tailing behind him. The woman could only watch as the two seemingly young teenagers walk to their demise. But of course, things aren't what they seem on the surface.
