Leila gaped as she turned around and found Lucas standing in her room.

The wind blew from the window, causing the curtains to move apart from the view and the moonlight shone through the room, revealing her face.

"Is it very painful, Leila?"

"Go away!" she hissed and pulled her blanket upwards to cover her back. As she lifted the blanket, she ended up stretching herself a bit too much that her scars seemed to have torn and she felt a sharp pain run through her spine. She squeezed her shoulder and bit her lips as she winced in pain.

Lucas swiftly moved onto her bed, "Are you okay?"

He knew she was obviously not ok. He panicked as he did not know what he was supposed to do. He noticed blood stains on the part of the blanket that was covering her back. He scanned the room quickly and noticed the first aid box on the side table.

He opened it and saw that it was full of cotton pads filled with blood. He cleared those away and took out a clean pack of cotton pads and medicine to apply along with tweezers. "I'll help you," he offered as he slowly pulled the blanket down.

Leila rejected the offer but Lucas did not really care. He clicked his tongue and just treated her wounds. He poured the medicine on the cotton pad and put it on her scars a little too hard which caused her to squeal.

"I'm sorry."

He did not mean to hurt her. He had never treated wounds before so he was clumsy. As it went on, he got a hold of it.

He properly treated her wounds and observed her scars. It seemed like something had been torn off from her back.

"I'm sorry you have to see something like this," she told him apologetically.

He quietly treated her wounds, not caring with she said. If she had scars, then she had scars. There's nothing more to it. She still looked beautiful to him.

He thought about it and figured out that there were a lot of paintings hanging around. Paintings of the same angel. He did not know why but she resembled Leila. He thought maybe...just maybe she was her.

"Are-are you an Angel?"

He was not sure if it was appropriate to ask. He looked at Leila who did not respond to him immediately so he decided to let it go.

However, moments later Leila spoke up. She looked up at the moon through the window that was beaming in the night sky. "Yes," she replied.

'Yes. Yes?! She is?! I thought angels were a myth,' he thought to himself.

Leila glanced at him over her shoulder and then look back at the moon.

"I no longer had wings so I became a myth."

His heart clenched when he heard that. Leila was in pain all this time and he did not do anything to help her. He did have his doubts. He never really expected her to an angel.

"You can see it from my shadow."

Leila pointed somewhere and Lucas's eyes moved towards the direction she was pointing. He turned to look at the wall where her shadow had formed.

His eyes widened and gasped at what he saw. Wings spread from her back at the shadow. He turned back to look at Leila but there was nothing but scars that looked terribly painful.

"May I know how this happen?" he asked with a hope that she would tell him. He wished to learn everything about her. Everything.

Leila took a quick glimpse at the back for a little bit and smiled.

"Curious little kid," she giggled. It was supposed to be offending but Lucas did not feel hurt by her comment. Instead he actually felt happy and relieved to see Leila laugh. She seemed to be feeling better.

Leila straightened up and Lucas did the same. She hesitated a bit but she did not feel any harm in telling him. She knew it was better to tell him after all.

"Well since I already told you that I am a sinner and you have seen my scar. There's no point in keeping more secrets so I'll tell you."

••••••••••••••••••<>••••••••••••••••••

It was around 9 years ago before Lucas started working as a Guardian. Leila was an Angel who worked for the human world and Galax. Back then she was not the Guardian of the Night but another person called Tyler Hexan.

Tyler was as old as Leila and was known for being precise and ambitious. He was friendly and always had a huge smile spread across his face. They were very close. Tyler was a great painter and had always painted pictures of her under the moonlight which were the ones hanging on the walls of her room.

They matched a lot like twins and got their work done perfectly. Leila was always in charge of heading to the living world where she would observe the humans, live like them and bring back certain man-made materials that would be useful for Galax.

On the other hand, Tyler was in charge of taking care of Galax and the people. He was responsible for the infrastructure and wellbeing of Galaxians. He had to work together with Leila to produce the best for the Galaxians using all the materials they could find.

One day, Tyler got to go to human world along with Leila for research. That was when they ended up at Paris where the attractions were so beautiful and the scenery was just perfect. They fell in love with the view and decided to build one in Galax after gaining approval from the Heads.

It was part of their memories that they had together. The Heads even held an opening ceremony to praise them for their hard work which they were so proud of.

Tyler watched the garden getting filled up with people enjoying the scenery beside Leila.

"We should come up with more ideas. I mean I love seeing everyone smile at this breathtaking view," he exclaimed in excitement.

Leila nodded in agreement and smiled at the sight. She was willing to help him in every way. After all, it was great to see Tyler this elated and it would also be useful to Galax as well. Everything went smoothly although Leila was not always physically involved in other projects.

As time passed by, she only ended up accompanying him to the human world once or twice and there were times she bought the necessary materials for him as he could not join her since he had duties to fulfill. He was disappointed when he had to learn that he could no longer visit the human world as it was interrupting his duties.

So, she made sure to bring everything Tyler asked for. She believed that nothing could possibly happen with Tyler receiving human goods.

Little did she know that the greed that grew in Tyler could lead to such a tragedy that night.
