Lucas spent another day, stuck in the office for his duty as usual. He stared at the broken watch on his wrist and whined as he was bored to death. It had been a week since he interacted with Leila. He had seen not seen or heard any sign of her since then.
He felt empty inside. He wanted to just knock on her door and barge inside but that would just literally mean he had broken the law and he would be exiled. That would be the last thing he wanted and pushed that out of his plan.
He erased his thoughts and continued to look at his watch. He examined it closely and noticed a crack on the watch. He thought it was a dust or something so he tried wiping it off but it did not go away even after a couple of times. It really is a crack. He wondered why Leila would give him a broken watch.
It was not working and it also had a crack. He recalled what happened the previous night. The moment Leila appeared, the hands of the watch moved on its own as if it was brand new. It seemed like this watch could do something amazing like controlling time.
He remembered Aaron telling him that he would meet Leila the moment it starts ticking. He searched for buttons that could make it move but failed completely.
He sighed and thought of how this little broken watch could work normally without anything done to it and how Leila appeared the exact moment it started ticking. He tried to connect the dots together but could not come to a conclusion. It was weird how everything linked to Leila seemed magical.
She felt different from other Galaxians. He did not know how to put it but she just gave off a different vibe.
While he was deep into thoughts, someone patted his shoulder which made him jump out of fear.
He turned around saw Jacob waving at his face.
"Dude, please knock next time," he said as he tried to calm himself down.
Jacob laughed and shook his head as he saw his expression. He noticed that Lucas was started to get embarrassed due to his non-stop laughter. He tried to stop himself from continuing and apologized as he handed him some papers to acknowledge.
Jacob stared at him while he was signing the papers. "So, how was your date? You guys meeting again?"
Before he could ask another question, Lucas shoved the signed papers at his face.
"Yes the date was fancy and she did say we would meet again...." he paused before continuing and let out a sigh, "Probably."
Jacob raised his eyebrow, definitely not satisfied with his answer. It drove his curiosity even more.
"Do you not like her?"
Lucas looked at him dumbfounded and shook his head, "She's gorgeous. Perfect to be exact. There's nothing I can dislike about her." I might even love her.
Jacob asked what the problem was then. Lucas licked his dried lips and fiddled with his fingers nervously, "I'm just afraid I won't get to meet her again."
Jacob knew exactly what he meant. Who was he kidding? The woman he was talking about is Leila Song, the Guardian of the Night. She's rarely seen out of her office and she was just way too mysterious to begin with. Even when Jacob had to take over her duty, he had to use the control system at Aaron's room.
Despite that, he knew how much Lucas had wanted to meet her. He always talked about her when he had the chance and now that he finally got the chance, he really did not want that opportunity to get ruined.
"It'll work out somehow," he assured him with a pat on his back. He tried to comfort him so that he would cheer up. Lucas gave him a nod in response and smiled. Hopefully.
