chapter 10: Taylor white(1)

The trafficking of women into forced labor prostitution, and marriage is a global phenomenon. As many as two million women are trafficked each year for a profit estimated to be between five and seven billion dollars.
The state department reports that fifty to a hundred thousand women are bought and sold in the united States alone.
Trafficked women are typically recruited with promises of better job in more desirable locations, but upon their destinations, they find themselves in coercive and abusive situations they cannot escape.
In numerous cases policemen and government officials has been known to patronize brothels where trafficked women worked, despite the awareness of the conditions of their employment.
But in the Minds few years, phonexis leader of the Minds, liberated over two thousand women of three different continents and murdered every man who stood in her way.

Taylor white adjusted her glasses folding the newspaper article and dropping it on the glass table sipping a glass of coffee at her side. She was sitting on a folding chair in her chambers at the protectors headquarters which was built at the east side of the city. The building was a tower block, very tall and attractive with rose's flowers designed around it landscape. It was built for both the elementals and the brutes each having their private chambers. But there was a conference room where they all gathered for their meetings.

She checked her wrist watch which was 11:35pm close to midnight. She plans on going on patrol but only on one mission to capture a technopath, a member of the Minds who has the ability to control technology with his mind. After their last battle few months ago, she managed to put a tracking device on his costume and have been monitoring his movement ever since until now, she plans on setting a trap for him on the exact location he kept on coming. It was like his home or something near an abandoned alley downtown. She was surprised that he didn't notice the tracker on him after all he could sense any technology around him or was it a trap for her instead? For her to come after him and get cornered by the rest of his team.
It doesn't matter anyway her mind was made up. The Minds were the reason she was here and a member of the protectors. Remember the story about the Minds and how they manipulated the mayor's mind to steal a  huge amount of money and send it to them. Yeah the mayor was her father. He spent almost a year in prison if not for the scientists who explained to the court house that he was manipulated by the Minds and with enough proof he was set free and reinstated as the mayor.Few days later was when her powers manifested, she was angry and ashamed because the public called her father a thief including the school she attended made fun of her. she promise herself to take down the minds and make them pay for making her life hell. She joined the team and began training as hard as she can before becoming a full time heroine. Tonight was the night it all happen and nothing was going to stop her.

She took her phone dialing Jason's number for the twelfth time in two days but it has always been switched off. Since ever they started dating, he has never denied her call. She went to the garage workshop yesterday but the boss said he haven't seen Jason since two days ago and he has already made up his mind to fire him because he was not serious with the job. She would have checked his house but she doesn't know the address. Something was wrong but she will try locating his residence tomorrow, right now she needs to put all her attention to catching the technopath.
Jason was a nice guy and besides all the insult she got from her peers he stood by her side. How they meet was on a Friday in school when he saw her crying after the insult a group of girls spat at her, she had no friends to comfort her until he walked up to her and ever since then they've been friends. Until a particular Thursday when he asked if he could be her girlfriend, her cheeks turned red because she had a crush on him too but not able to express it. It was also the first day they had their first kiss. It was wonderful.

She smiled at herself remembering the memory of it. She heard a knock." Come in" Taylor responded and the door opened as a lady in walked in putting on a purple costume suit which was the elementals code of dressing as heroes. It was the same as hers but she wore a cape on it. She had a brown hair,  blue eyes and a average skin tone.

" You are going on patrol tonight right?" The lady asked.

" Yeah. But am going alone, I have something personal to take care off"  Taylor answered standing up and hearding to her hanger where her costume was placed. Her name was Jade Peterson aka midnight, she was an elemental with the ability to control the shadows. She could create shadow clones and turn a full bright daylight into a  full moon darkness but she had one weakness, she can't stay under light for a long time her powers will malfunction. So she preferred going on night missions to keep her fully active and in full strength.

" I don't think so, the last time you went on patrol alone you almost got yourself Killed by the Minds because of your grudge against them. I am not letting that happen again because I was told to by Vince to keep an eye on you" Jade said folding her arms as Taylor switched into her costume before turning to face her sighing. Vince was the leader of the elementals and is known as infinity in his costume and has the ability to manipulate and control fire. He was appointed to be the leader years ago by the government.

" Fine,Let's go I'll explain where we are going today. I've got a lead on someone we are going to catch" Taylor replied walking passed her.

" It better be not what am thinking" Jade predicted.

          * * * * * * * * *

The two heroine stood on a rooftop close to the alley downtown where the technopath called Ron usually passed through. It's been 30 mins since they arrived but no sign of him.

" Are you sure he is going to come this way? and how are you sure this is not a trap. We should call the team" midnight suggested. The alley was quiet filled with abandoned cars and trucks scraps,buildings,trash etc.This doesn't look a place where someone would like to hang around but there has to be a reason he always come here and Taylor was going to find out what it is, trap or not.

" We got this" she assured not facing her.

" Look I know you hate this guys but you are not using your head right now. This guys are not amateurs." midnight implied. This got Taylor's attention.

" You really think I don't know that! This group cost my family a lot. My mom left us because of she couldn't bear the shame. My father endured and took care of me alone, I lost my friends and got a lot of insults from peers at school because of this group!!" She yelled angrily at midnight who just kept quiet.
" Secondly if we apprehend him we could get some information on the kidnapped women and where his leader phonexis is keeping them. Then we call the team and we all go rescue them and stop the Minds once and for all, get it" Taylor asked her glaring, Midnight nods.

Few minutes later they heard footsteps below them, Ron is here. And Taylor turned to her teammate. " Turn off your phone he can sense any technology around him" she informed and midnight obeyed.
Ron walked through the scraps shattered around swinging his head sideways to ensure that no one was watching him. The two heroine took to the sky hovering keeping a close eye on him and suddenly he disappeared.

" What the.." Taylor trailed scanning around for any sign of him. " He was right there!"

" I don't like this" midnight said and then a light switches on from a dead security light pole bright enough to send midnight on her knees. She tried to block the florescent but her powers was failing to respond. Taylor noticed and fly's to her side blasting the pole with solar energy knocking it off it's position as it melted before landing near an abandoned building.
Then she heard a voice from a dead speaker nearby.

" I knew you would come" she heard. Midnight was right, this was a trap....

A/N: phew! I posted finally.
The next chapter Taylor vs Ron who would win? Also the Taylor white character goes in three chapters, this one is the first part. Two more parts to go and trust me you have no idea what I've in the store for the next two chapters of this character.
Any ways, I don't know when I will be posting them because remember the exam i told you about last year? Well this year is when am writing the second half of it and if I pass them, am going to college so I need to be fully prepared and reading always. I know I promise to post on Saturdays, just cope with me  in the mean time.
