chapter 14: when you mess with fire

Jason James sat in his living room listening to the news about the event that took place two days ago. The Minds have been finally captured. He would have been at the mechanical workshop but he was fired thanks to his regular lateness and absence because he was helping the B squad wilders.
He had given it a thought about joining the team, they are all trying to survive just like him and never chose to be in the situation they found themselves.

His mom approach the living room already dressed for work as a assistant manager for the marketing department at her friend's company. She was putting on a black suit that matches her shoe, an inner white long sleeve and her hair packed into a ponytail. She was looking elegant.

" Good morning mom" Jason greeted.

" Hey Jason you are not going to work today, please tell me you are not taking another day off" she pointed. I wish. Jason thought. He couldn't tell her he got fired she would be disappointed.

" Not really... I..uh.." he was cut off.

" You know what tell me later, I need to get to work" she said grabbing her leather bag. " Don't forget to pick up Alice after school okay"

" Okay mom have a nice day" he replied before she left. He stood up and went to grab some food from the fridge. Minutes later he heard a knock on the door.
" Come in" he responded but the knocking continued. He left what he was doing to go check. He opened the door and standing in front of him is someone he never of seeing in thousands of years to come.

" Hi"

" Jessica?! What are you doing here" he asked surprised.

" You are not going to let me in" Jessica answered. She was a all black outfit. He ushers her in and told her to take a seat.

" Anything to drink" he asks.

" No thanks" she answered. This was weird even for him. This was a girl who wanted nothing to do with him and would kill him if she gets the chance, is sitting right in front of him in his house.

" So.. um.. how did you know where I live" he started a conversation.

" Actually I followed you in the sky back to your residence. The B squad wilders always keep an eye on newbies just to ensure if they could be trusted" she explained.

" Okay so am I trusted" Jason looked at her face to see her reaction.

She shrugs." That's up to Cole to decide" she said and he nods.

" Why are you here Jessica because last time I checked, you didn't needed my help" he got straight to the point.

" That's why am here actually. I need to apologize for everything I have done and said to you, I know you were just trying to help me but.. it's just that a lot of things have happened in my life that I am not proud of" she paused.

" No I understand Jessica but you are not the only one who is going through stuff. Sometimes you have to let someone in" Jason said.

" Yeah I have figured that out.. so I have decided to take you out for lunch and tell you more about myself" she suggested. This is definitely a new Jessica. Jason thought.

" I.. don't know what to say, what changed your mind" Jason asks anxiously.

" You did. Now go get dressed we are going out" she answers sitting very comfortable now on the sofa. Jason laughs and stood up.
" I thought taking girls out was a guy thing"

" Well I am not a guy and things change" she retorted. Jason raises his arms not disagreeing with her before leaving to get changed.
