Chapter 3: Run to Safety

--- The Next Day---

  Within Mt. Hakurai Naraku was nearly complete in his new build body. He had called for the Shichinintai to meet with Kanna and Kohaku to be given their new orders.

"Kagura, I have a task for you," he stated cooly at the wind sorceress who had a bored expression plastered on her face.

"It's time we fetch the elements?" she asked eyeing Naraku carefully as not to make him angry in any way. He nodded and waved his hand to dismiss her. Part of the barrier opened allowing Kagura to fly off on her feather to do what she has been bid.

--- With Kohaku and Kanna---

The demon slayer and albino child waited patiently for the band of mercenaries to arrive. They first saw the giant named Kyokotsu in the distance.

"Bankotsu sir," greeted Kohaku to the teen carried a giant halberd.

"Kokahu, ah you've brought the albino child along again," he started as they closed the gap between the two parties, "what is it Narku wants now?"

Kana spoke softly, "there is a village south of here, find it and destroy it."

The mercenaries eyed her curiously. "Why is it Naraku wished the destruction of a mere village?" asked Renkotsu.

"There is a group of travelers he wished to capture," Kohaku said calmly, "Kagura has gone to fetch them but Naraku wants the village destroyed as collateral."

Bankotsu nodded his understanding before turning to face his men, "alright you heard him. At least we will get to have a little fun right?" he smirked as his band members seemed excited now.

--- In the Village---

Everyone was doing their chores around the house. Kyo was with Haruhi gathering herbs and crops while Takashi and Kisa were at the river. Their mothers stayed near the hut cleaning and cooking. All of a sudden Kyo smelt smoke and knowing that no one would be burning anything in the middle of a hot day directed himself and Haruhi back to the village.

The village was in utter chaos. Dead bodies lay scattered and covered in blood. Huts were on fire and burning to the ground as the villagers screamed "It's the Shichinintai!" and ran for their lives. Kyo kept them in the forest as he thought of what he can do.

"Haruhi lets stay in the forest and head back to the hut they may not have had a chance to roam that far to the edge of the village," he ordered as she nodded her head shaking in fear.

Their mothers' back at the hut saw the village in shambles, they hoped their children were alright as they stayed hidden behind the hut. They saw Takashi and Kisa running towards them and prompted them to stay quiet.

"Where is Kyo and Haruhi?" asked Kisa with concern laced in her voice.

Hanako looked to her daughter and shook her head as she feared for the safety of her son and Haruhi. Soon Kyo and Haruhi were seen in the forest lining and they all felt relief wash over them as Kyo motioned for them to come to him.

They all followed as he led them quietly deeper into the forest before turning around, "is anyone hurt and are we all here?" everyone nodded their head.

"We are all fine Kyo, do you know who is attacking the village?" asked Takashi

"The villagers think it is the Shichinintai..." he said slowly as their faces paled.

They heard rustling in the trees, Kyo and Takashi took defensive stances in front of the others eyeing the shrubbery carefully. All of a sudden they head "Dance of Blades!" Kyo instinctively pushed everyone out of the way while Takashi shielded everyone Kyo couldn't reach. Kyo was hit dead on with the attack and sent flying into a tree.
