2 years after Erawan is gone, balance is restored and there is peace. Some feel that the fae now have gained too much power, and are rebelling against their new royalty. Using iron daggers, each night, nonfae sneak into fae homes and slaughter fae families. Slowly making their way toward Aelin and Rowan.
In the palace...
Aelin and Rowan are conversing with their court about the problem. "What can we do? We are losing soldiers everyday!" Aedion argues.
"Do you only care about soldiers? Families of innocent people, our people, are dying." Lysandra cries.
"The fae are getting mad and I have a feeling that our lovely words won't keep them at bay for much longer. This could be all out civil war," Aedion says grimly.
"What we need are allies, powerful allies with no bias." Rowan slams his hands down on the table, "What can we do? "
Rowan glances back at Aelin but stops when he sees a tear run down her cheek. "Fireheart, what's wrong?" Rowan says tentatively. "I am sorry," she whispers, "I love you all so much," "Aelin," Rowan says softly, "What are you doing?"
"Rowan," Aelin looks into his eyes, "I love you so much." Aedion was the first to realize what she was about to do. "Aelin. No! Don't you pull this on us again!" He yelled. Soon everybody had realized what was about to happen, but Aelin was already out the large wooden double door, sealing it shut with wyrdmarks. She hear Rowan roar which made her want to run back in there into his arms and take him with her, but she knew this was a dangerous task and she couldn't put Rowan at risk like that.
Aelin
I slunk along walls careful to not be heard by anyone and slowly made my way towards mine and Rowan's private quarters. I took my dagger from my boot, (what, you think that after Maeve, I would ever just count on my magic? Anyway...) I sliced my palm and started to draw the wyrdmarks to take me to another dimension, anywhere else where there is a chance of an alliance. Suddenly, I hear a loud crash from downstairs, and knew Rowan had broken down the doors. I had to hurry or I would never be able to make myself leave. I finished, shifted into my human form (to seem less intimidating) and ran through wyrdportal. All I knew was that the next second I was in another dimension, the wyrdportal had closed behind me, and I was not alone...
A/N Sorry for the super short chapter! I promise, they will get longer. This is technically my first fan fiction still, though under a different name. Please give feedback with comments. Positive or negative. The fan fiction I am reading right now is A Loophole, by Squirrel. It is a Percabeth/Selection Crossover. Please read it. I will try to have a new fan fic recommendation each update. Thank you for reading.
Hugs,
Leah
