*** Day 1 ***
I woke up, smelling a delicious food. Hmmm! It smells like my fave food. Wait. Is Marriett cooking?
I jumped out the bed and ran to the kitchen to see Marriett cooking. Yep. She's cooking it.
"Good Morning.." she greeted. I ran my fingers to my hair.
"Good.. Morning.." I groaned. She continued to cook.
"How'd you know my favorite food?" I asked. "I didn't.. I was just searching something to cook at the fridge.. Then I came up to this.." she explained.
Okay this is the first day. Maybe tomorrow, I'll regret this.
*** Day 2 ***
"Marriett?" I called out, looking for her. I glanced at the balcony to see her writing with her notebook, under the sun. Her black-brown hair now shines to a light brown. The sun rays beamed at her like an angel coming down from angel.
And I didn't realized that I had been staring at her. "John?" she called again. I snapped from my thoughts. "Yeah, Yeah?" I responded.
"You called?"
"Well.. Uhh.. Just checking up on you..."
Second day. Maybe I should be friends with her.
*** Day 3 ***
Did I forgot to mention that something haunts me every in the middle of the night? It all started two nights ago, when my vase on my drawer was shaking. I knew it wasn't an earthquake. Then my window shot open, making the cold breeze enter the bedroom.
I always check on Marriett on the couch sleeping peacefully. And every I checked on her, my door always close by itself, even though the window is already close.
Third day. Too far.
*** Day 4 ***
"Marriett.." I called. She came in from the balcony. I realized the extra clothes are few enough.
"How about I'll buy you some clothes?"
Fourth day. 3 days left 'til I'm back to work. But the haunts' not over yet.
*** Day 5 ***
I walked out the bedroom to see Marriett holding a picture frame from my shelf, staring at it with her teary eyes.
"Marriett?" I called. She looked at me and put the picture frame back. "Are you crying?" I asked. She shook her head.
"No..." she paused and she took the picture frame again. "Who's this woman, by the way?" she changed the topic, and she showed the picture of Kacey.
"Oh.. Well... That's my... fiance... Ex-fiance... Kacey Andrews.." I answered with a little bit of hesitation.
"Why 'ex'?" she asked. I just stared at her, and sighed. "She... She's out of the world..." I shouldn't have said that.
"Oh... I.. I'm sorry.." she apologized as she put the picture frame back and sniffed. "Why are you crying?" I asked as I walked in front of her. She just bowed down her head.
"Reminiscing the old memories.. With my family..." she confessed. I hugged her in comfort and she began crying.
Fifth day. Getting acquainted.
*** Day 6 ***
"Have you ever noticed something haunted every midnight?" I asked, noticing every midnight haunt. She thought, and she shook her head.
Awkward Silence.
"Can I ask a favor? For tomorrow?" I broke the silence. She just looked at me.
"Tomorrow, I'm going back to work... Can you... bring me food every lunch?" I asked. Her eyebrows shot up.
"Are you... serious?" she asked. I smiled and shook my head. "So you can have a little work." I added. She smiled sheepishly.
Sixth day. Get ready.
*** Day 7 ***
"Welcome back to work, John!" my co-worker, Charles, greeted. I smiled, "Thanks Charles! It's good to be back!"
I can see the manager from afar, smiling at me. I smiled back and went to my desk
Lunch time.
"John? Someone wants to meet you.." Charles whispered. I smiled. Marriett.
"Let her come here.." I said. Charles went off. Seconds later, Charles came back, followed by Marriett bringing the food. I smiled. "Hello, Mar!"
Did I just called her 'Mar'?
She smiled. I stood up. She stretched her arms, holding the food. I chuckled and took the small bag. She bowed down her head in embarrassment.
"Hey.. Chin up." I said as I tapped her chin up. She looked at me. I smiled and lead her out.
"Hey.. Always have confidence, hmm?" I said. She nodded. "Okay, bye.."
"Bye.." she bid goodbye and headed out.
I went back to my desk, just to see Charles standing next to my desk, waiting.
"What?" I asked as I sat. He kneeled beside me. "Who's she?"
I laughed. "Marriett Antique... My friend.."
"Are you sure you two are friends? Or.. more than friends? Haha! I can't believe you can move on easily!"
"No, we're not 'more-than-friends'... And... I haven't move on yet.."
Seventh day. Getting started.
