I have come to a final conclusion that I am not going to have breakfast today. My fridge was staring at me, 8 footsteps away hoping I would swing it open but naaah. Not this morning. Today I want to spend the whole day in bed, curtains wide open giving me just enough view of the rainy weather.
Today was surprisingly cool and cloudy for a city that is near hell. Yes I have concluded that Windhoek is near hell, because it's ever hot. Couples must be cuddling in bed all day long and here I was, patting my life companion Spensor. She purrs as I circle my fingers around her ears.
I hear another purr and I reached for my phone. New Text message:
"I have a new case for you. Be by the office at ten. "
Detective Williams sure knows how to ruin a good day.I lazily rolled out of bed, the clock on my nightstand read 09:32 and I made quick calculations in my head to make the shower exactly five minutes.
Ten minutes later I was in my Jeep patriot hooting at careless taxi drivers and reckless pedestrians who are crossing the road like blind people. Truly they are not the ones irritating me, but work.
After a good 20 minutes drive, I was in the Windhoek Police bureau. The sight of this place makes me sick. There was so much paper laying around it blinds my eyes sometimes. I have always found these policemen quite useless. I could do their job ten times better but i don't have the time. I made my way to detective Williams office.
Next to Detective stood a young lad, 6 feet tall, probably 27 years old. A pair of hazel brown eyes. Sleek haircut. Definitely works out because he wore a fitted shirt clearly showing a perfect layer of his abs. of course i deduced him at first glance. Now let me hope i was correct.
"Ahhh Mrs Ishmael! Just on time as always. How are you this morning? "
He said excitingly.."I was fine until you texted. So what's this case about? I don't have all day now do I?"
He didn't flick at how mean I was. When was i ever not mean ?
I ignored the presence of the young man standing next to detective and continued to make conclusions about him; he is definitely a last born, he stands with his head slightly bending to his left shoulder. He is right handed, he stood firmly with the right foot slightly behind the left one for support. He has a scar right above his left eye. I looked at it for a good 5 seconds and I concluded again; he was in the army . His posture too was definitely army like. How did I miss this. He had his arms behind him like He was about to get instructions from his lieutenant.Detective Williams distracted my thoughts , "Well I have a surprise for you.one which you obviously won't like but anyways, I got you a partner for this case. His name is Justus Moér. He is from the army and he will be of good help with this case."
I high fived my self internally for being right about him.
"Spensor and I are doing just fine on our own Or was There ever a time we didn't solve a case Detective?" I asked while patting Spensor who was in my arms. Clearly the young lad was rather intimidated to hear that and he narrowed his eyes on me. I meant it however and the detective knew he had alot of convincing to do. I hate working with people. They slow you down."Mrs Ishmael please try to understand that I want this case solved as soon as possible and you would need all the help you can get." I sighed and rolled my eyes. I have heard that before. Try harder detective. "Whats this case about? What makes it so special it would challenge my expertise?" I asked.
Detective pulled open the drawer on his table and pulled out a file which he handed out to me. "The army came to me last week with suspense that there might be a mole in The army. Two weeks ago they had an attack, one which they didn't see coming. Many a Times the army would lose valuable weapons and they would search everyone in hope to find who does it but they wouldn't find anything at all. Now I know that is not your area of specialization but you being you, we were hoping you would interrogate a few soldiers who seemed suspicious and malevolent.
