Her Fate

Chapter 12

Being in the presence on the Great One was always scary.  It has been a while and I didn't know what he was going to do with me.

"You called for me O'Great One "  I said, kneeling down.

"I am very disappointed in you Lorraine. You have been distant and yet you called for help. " Great One said.

"Apologies your majesty. I had a situation and I couldn't make it. " I said

"You do know very well that your "situation" has tarnished your reputation and unfortunately your "situation" will cost you so much now. The board has decided that you give three times the normal sacrifice. " Great One said.

That was way too much than anyone can sacrifice!

"Have mercy on me Great One! I'm ready to do anything else other than that. Take away all my businesses, cars, house.. I can not do that sacrifice. " I pleaded.

"Need I remind you, you have no choice in this matter. " Great One said.

I was completely healed and the first place I went was at Sharon's. She has been blowing up my phone like crazy and I needed to explain to her.

"Where have you been?  Nelao recently got kidnapped at school and I have been calling you! Whindhoek isn't safe anymore." Sharon asked as we sat in her living room. The children were at school. It was just her and I.

"I was going through stuff and I just needed a break. I had to go somewhere and just think about my life for a sec. I'm sorry I had you worried. I'm fine now. Is she fine though?" I said.

"Yes she's okay, thank God they didn't do anything to her. But You scared me so much I almost went to the police. Don't ever disappear like that." Sharon said. We chatted for a while until it was time for me to go home.

Kali and I have been texting a lot and it has been great. He transferred to Windhoek and we have gone out a couple of times.

He was coming over for dinner at my place tonight.
I was all over the place with preparations. I warned him that I'm not good in the kitchen area but he insisted. I had called Sharon to help me out but she said "this is your own battle. Until when should I keep helping you?!" And laughed while I was freaking out.

Hours later Kali came.

"Sorry I'm a little late, I had to get my sister from the airport" Kali said

"Oh it's nothing. In fact you gave me more time to prepare. Let's go over to the dining table."  I said. 

We ate grilled chicken, pasta with mixed veggies and carrot salad on the sides.
Kali had wine and we played "confession hour" .
Kali revealed some of his deep secrets which weren't too deep for me anyway. I was careful not to talk about my family businesses and rituals.  It got late and we both got a little drunk.

Kali decided to sleep in the guest room.

*Kalis POV*

After dinner I went upstairs to find a guest room to sleep in. Lorraine said I could choose any. I crushed into one of them and fell on the bed.

In the middle of the night, a disturbing noise woke me up. It's a rambling sound of something crushing against the walls of the cupboard in my room. At this time alcohol has left my body but my head was spinning so I wasn't sure I heard well. I stayed on the bed silently and waited for the sound.

For ten minutes I heard nothing.

Then the sound began again. I was contemplating whether I should switch on the lights and open the cupboard or force myself to sleep.

The noise began again. Out of Curiosity, I decided to switch on the lights and open the cupboard.
I switched on the lights and twisted the cupboard door knob to open it. It was locked.

Before I could do anything, something hauled. And it came from the cupboard.  I jumped back in shock and fell on the bed. The hauling didn't stop and I was shivering.

What the hell does Lorraine keep in here? I mean who is she? Are the rumors actually true about what they say about their family ? Anyone in my position would be scared and run for their lives but I froze. Couldn't move or utter any sound. I just listened.

Minutes later, Lorraine rushed in, hurrying towards the cupboard. Her eyes met my frightened ones and she freaked out.

I knew and she knew that I knew so we both stared at each other in discomfort.
I decided to make this easy for her; I walked out.
She followed me.

"You weren't supposed to hear that. Please don't leave. Talk to me, I'll answer your questions"Lorraine said behind me.

"What do you have in that cupboard Lorraine?" I asked.

" I can't tell you that but I can assure you, it's nothing you want to see. " she said

"Why do you have whatever is in there?  And why did you let me sleep in the same room with them? Do you have any idea how freaked out and scared I am right now?" I said. 

"They are pets and I take care of them. They were my dads and he left them with me. They are harmless and all they do is eat. They couldn't have done anything to you. They make noise when they are hungry. I didn't know you would go in their room." She said.

"Wait so it's true about what they say about your family ? You have things that you call "pets" and you are telling me they are harmless?? Then why did you lock them up? Spensor is pet but she's not locked up. My goodness what else do you have in this mystery house ? You know what? I'm leaving." I said.

Grabbed my car keys on the sofa and left. It was 1:45 in the morning but I didn't care. I had to leave.

*LORRAINES POV*

Kali left and I knew he wasn't coming back ever again. I didn't know what to do or say to him without telling him everything I'm forbidden to say.  What if he goes to the press about what he heard? My thoughts were all over the place.

devil has informed me that the sacrifices will begin. I knew very well that these sacrifices are going to cost me my life. Family members will die, close friends will die and part of the business will malfunction for a while. I caused all of this. 

Kali was the one thing that was going great in my life and I ruined that too..

*GENERAL POV*

Not long after Kali discovered the monsters, sacrifices began. Yvonne, Lorraine's friend was the first one. She died in a car accident. After Yvonne, Lorraine's aunt Foibe passed on. She fell sick and doctors could find a diagnosis. Uncle Hendrick followed shortly after.  Car accident as well.

Sharon started to suspect their family was cursed. She told Lorraine about it but she tried to talk her out of it. Sharon decided to go to the revival churches, in search of answers.
