♣ Cole ♣
“Time waits for no one.”
There were people around me, no they weren’t human. They were witches, hidden under the mask of a man.
“Time waits for no one.”
Words of enchantment started, my body ached, and it burned.
“Time waits for no one.”
My blood boiled and my skin felt like it was stretching, my bones cracked as they changed shape and the body’s shape was perfected.
"Time waits for no one.”
A loud scream of agony echoed through my ears, was it mine? My consciousness failed me.
“Time waits for no one.”
Darkness, everything was dark. Shadows… silence… then laughter. Who laughed just now? Who laughed at my pain…?
“But you have gained power over time.”
There was no longer a human Cole… I was dead… and a new me was born. That night, on the first day of the year, a new monster was born, from the crust of the earth.
I stared at the sky as I opened my eyes. A millennium of time had passed after that terrible night… I heard the distant chatter of the humans as they walked down the streets. Soon the stars faded away as the fireworks decorated the sky, the high pitched whistle echoing as it traveled its way towards the highest peak it could reach. Time seemed to go slowly once I had become the creature I was now. My hatred towards the humans was now deep and dark. Even witches were once humans, just to note the fact that they decided to associate with the devil and turned the way they are. I’ll tell you one side effect of turning into a witch: you change into an ugly grandmother. Perfect isn’t it? Sadly they use their magic powers to somehow change their terrible appearance into a beautiful lady. Just like the nowadays girls who wear makeup and their faces turn from terrible to lovable. Appearances may deceive humans a lot.
Anyways back to the talking about how much I hated humans. Before I was turned into a vampire, yes the first generation of the vampires were born from witches, I always had a slight bit of trust issues with humans and such. Not to mention that my father had been a drug addict who abused my younger brother and me, and I had a mother who had a very kind heart and took care of us whenever he tried to hurt us. I remember that night so well, as if it had happened just a day ago.
“Time waits for no one.”
A saying that my mom would always say to my younger brother and I.
I remembered that after being turned into a vampire the witches forced me, while I was in my wild state, to drink the blood of a living human. The sacrifices had been some unknown people, at least at that time I thought they were unknown. Once I got back home I noticed my mom was missing and my brother looked angry and bewildered, scared of my existence. He screamed at me, I remember the words clearly.
“Monster! Get away from me! Get my brother back!”
I was no longer Cole… I was a monster.
“Cole! Cole! I said wake up!”
I saw a hand being waved in front of my eyes. I slowly focused my eyes on the hand’s owner. Kyle, a mortal “friend” of mine.
“What?” I snapped at him as I adverted my eyes from him back to the fireworks.
“You should smile, it’s New Year!” He exclaimed as he pointed at the fireworks and gave me his genuine smile.
All I did was roll my eyes at his comment, why was this day so special for the mortals? It was just the start of another boring and annoying year, pretty much meaningless.
“Come on… Smile like this!” he said as he gave me an example of how to smile, to shut the boy up I somewhat smiled, the tips of my lips curling slightly upward.
“Happy? Now shut up.”
I saw Kyle shake his head and then his fingers were jabbed on the tips of my mouth, forcing an awkward smile on my face.
“Like this.” Kyle said.
I glared at Kyle as I snapped for his fingers and Kyle recoiled away, laughing so childishly.
“Anyways…” this time he sighed.
“What now?” I said as I looked around.
"When is she coming? You always seem to know when the person is coming though they are miles away from us.”
“She said she’d be late.”
“She’s always late!”
“Don’t you know how to shut that mouth up?” I snapped and turned my attention back to the crowds.
I focused my eyes towards my target, the dear girl Kyle was searching for. Long brown hair and green eyes, small and somewhat skinny structure, her usual perfume smell. I pointed towards her and Kyle followed my fingers, quickly waving at the young monster and she waved back when her eyes met with us.
