“Shut up everyone!” I screamed from the top of my lungs as I tried to silence all of the vampires that were attending the meeting. War was soon starting and everybody was agitated. Obviously this meant vampires got mad and when vampires get mad, there is chaos.

“We have no time to be arguing with each other, even worse-.” I stopped midway as I raised an eyebrow at a small group of vampires who were still snapping at each other. One of them noticed me and soon made the others paid attention.

“Thank you. Now about the war, we have the Fallen Angels on our side, the elves are… not in contact and if my information is wrong, the other side hasn’t gotten the chance to do so either.”

“The elves have never joined a single war, except one in which they did nothing-.”

“They healed our troops. Please do not say things when you weren’t even born at that time.” I said as I glared at him.

The last few wars had been disastrous, not only for the Shadow World but also for humanity. World War I and World War II, mainly both of them happened because we, creatures of the Shadow World had made the trouble. They say that the start of World War I was because this dude called Archduke Ferdinand was assassinated, the group that assassinated Archduke Ferdinand was called ‘The Black Hand’. I’ll tell you an amazing fact, that group was a group of stupid vampires, who thought the blood of a royal family dude, would have a difference than the blood of a normal peasant. Just telling you, there is none. Though sometimes there is one, it has more grease in it, in other words they are in a huge trouble called: obesity and you know what obesity takes you to? Death.

Anyways back to the topic, I’m guessing you know the fact that in both World Wars there were two groups. And those two groups fought against each other, because there can’t be any wars in which one group fights itself or nothing right? Unless you mean that one group separates and they again become two groups, isn’t this common sense? Yes, I do believe you know this, if not… ah… sadly you may have to go back to kindergarten.

As Russia, France and England worked together; Austria-Hungary, Germany and Italy fought against them. And the Shadow World, obviously, was joining this war. The vampires, Fallen Angels, and the Elves with the Russians and the French and the English, while the Werewolves, Warlocks, and the Demons were with the other group. Every World War that happened was a great feast for us vampires. I’m guessing you know why. Blood, but not just spots of blood here and there, blood was spilled and splattered and drunk. I’m hoping you noticed the “drunk” part, yeah we the vampires had a feast while the humans killed each other. The enemy group’s mortals were also called, food. You see even if you kill a person, the other people won’t have the time and the wits to actually go and check if the damned man was killed by a bomb or a vampire. I believe, the mortal will be busy trying to keep his body intact and alive.

I remember when I was made captain and then the mortal told me to choose the members I wished to have in my group. The so called, Group 11, though we decided to call ourselves ‘The Shadows”. I picked all the vampires.  We fought against our enemies, the real targets, in other words the werewolves, the demons and the warlocks.

In World War II there was this thing about “No Man’s Land”. It’s a special space that is between two trenches, both heavily armed and heavily guarded.

So that day, we were kind of angry that the mortals couldn’t pass the damned land and they would always whine and cry because they wished to pass through it, more likely that they wished the war to end, but who has the time to think of such pitiful thing. So we, The Shadows, did a small surprise for our dear friends. We walked through the damned land, though I must admit the bullets did hurt, and smiled at our friends, or more like enemies, while they looked at us with their eyes wide open as they screamed we were monsters. Though this was not written in history, for the fact that nobody believed what the soldiers said, so our small prank was lost in history.

“Commander Cole?”

“Sir? Mr. Cole?”

“Commander Cole, back to earth.”

My mind snapped back to the present as my name was called. I looked at the men, no sorry I mean Vampires, around me. They all looked confused and slightly annoyed, the last person they needed to space off was me.

“Sorry I was thinking…” I muttered as I looked at the crowd.

“Co-comander Jack, try contacting the elves once more. If possible we will try to go to their place in a day or two. The ones who wish to join the small journey please do write your names here. After our journey to the elves I will be expecting a meeting with the Fallen Angels, it doesn’t matter if the elves have joined us or not. Then comes the letters towards the Demons, I will be expecting the demons to join us, though if possible do not, dear ex-commander Kate, try to threaten them to join us. Our adversaries maybe will turn to be our friends tomorrow. Don’t forget that we must be ready for any adversity. You are now dismissed.”
