                                                                   Two

                                                            Ω Lily

“Forever doesn’t exist.”

           I was running.

                      Rain was falling…

             A rustling noise.

Then darkness…

                                  A flash.

           Then again darkness.

“Forever doesn’t exist.”

           Pain, unbelievable pain.

                      A scream.

   Darkness.

“Forever doesn’t exist.”

             A laugh.

   Chanting.

                      More pain.

“You’re wrong, forever can be made.”

The same night that many celebrate, the first day of the year, I was turned into another creature that was not me. I was a demon… I was no longer Lily but a monster that would feed from human fear.

New Years was one of the days not many of us liked. We hated it, New Years… It was the day many were born the way they were, the day when so many were forced to turn. I was another victim, just like Cole. Though we each other never told what we were, I knew his identity and I was sure he knew mine. A demon… Killed and then turned into a demon. There are many types of the monsters in the Shadow World. I’ll tell you the main branches: Vampires, Demons, Fallen Angels, Werewolves, and the Warlocks.

Somehow New Years had been a day that many of the Shadow World creatures decided to make us, or we could say turn us. There are little possibilities that a human turns into a demon and somehow remembers their past, but those who have a strong will or have a stronger soul than the caster are able to remember their past life, the one before they turn into a demon…

           “I’ll be late.”

There was still a lot for me to catch up, but from the many things I loved about technology as that I could talk to someone even if that person was miles and miles away from me.

Then my phone rang. I checked who had sent the message, the name on my screen said “Bloodsucker”, in other words Cole.

           “Whatever.”

Annoying as always…

I got myself ready to walk outside my house, this time I forced myself to wear a black skirt and a white, sleeveless shirt. To cover up the sleeveless-ness I got a leather jacket and put it on. I walked as slowly as I could, not really feeling enthusiastic in meeting the Bloodsucker or the Mortal. Though supposedly we were friends… we did go around a lot like a trio, I did like the Mortal, he was fun to go around with but the Bloodsucker did get into my nerves every once in a while. Then I saw someone’s hand waving at my direction, the scent of a vampire strong and clear, clearly it was Kyle and the Bloodsucker.

“What took you so long?!” Kyle whined once I reached them.

“I thought ‘hi’ was the first thing you said to friends.” I muttered at Kyle.

“Says the girl who didn’t say it either.” Cole commented as a smirk appeared in his face.

I rolled my eyes in response and turned my attention to Kyle who was radiating the feeling of confusion and sheepishness.

“What?” I said as I looked at him.

“You’re wearing a skirt.”

“She’s a girl.” Cole said.

“I never said she was a guy.” Kyle said.

“But you said it as if she wasn’t supposed to wear skirts.” Cole sneered.

“She never does.”

“Doesn’t mean I can’t” I noted.

“Fine fine! I’m sorry!” He said finally raising his hands in the air, showing defeat.

I chuckled under my breath and patted Kyle’s arm softly, letting the young boy be happy with the slight physical contact. Cole gave me a warning look, though I acted like I didn’t understand his look, I fully knew what he meant. He meant not to play with his toy, maybe he was taking the mortal into a more precious line, from toy to something closer to a friend. I adverted my eyes away from him and got my attention back to the fireworks.

“Let’s go somewhere where we can see the fireworks clearly… Like a tree or so…” I said as I didn’t take my eyes off.

“As you wish ugly demon.” Cole said as he passed by me and started leading the way.

“Shut up Blood sucker.” I said and followed him, Kyle by my side.

“I’m getting used to all those weird nicknames you give each other.” Kyle said as he smiled genuinely.

“I’m sure you are.” I said simply.
