Honestly, nobody would’ve imagined that the person you hated most and trusted least would’ve come to rescue you. It is as if the hero of a story is the enemy of the whole world. It was ironically funny, not to mention the fact that I was laying in the ground, my cheek against the cool floor. The runes had started to disappear, however, my strength was no longer here and totally gone. I heard voices and sounds, hissing and scowling outside the walls of this house. Such an annoyance, having a monster fight in my front yard, maybe the cleanly arranged grass was already toasted to nothing and the beautiful flowers I had taken care of already ruined and crushed under the stupidly strong creatures.
“Brainless brats…” I muttered as I forced myself to sit upright, my back was leaning against the wall and my legs were outstretched into full length. My arms were dangling uselessly besides me while my hands trembled from the “great” effort I had done to sit up.
“Who do call a ‘brainless brat’? And I had just gotten the vow from Nacho that he would restore your full strength…” I heard a voice from above me. My neck snapped upward and for a split second my neck cracked and I groaned loudly, my hand shooting upward to the crook of my neck. I couldn’t see whose head it was that was peeping through my window, but a fact was that it was surely Cole, that annoying voice and the way he talked that was mixed with an accent in which you couldn’t define if it was British or American for it was mixed with both.
“Merciless demon.” Said another voice, this was for sure that brat’s voice, Nathan.
“Shut up, nobody asked for your opinion.” Said Cole after a loud bang sounded followed by a groan.
“That hurt! Why did you do that?” Whined Nathan.
“Then, what other reason do you think I did that for?” snapped Cole.
“Oh shut up!” I scowled at both of them.
“You heard her Nacho, get her strength back.” Cole said and I heard some struggling. Not long after I heard a loud panicked yelp followed by a shadow flying above my head. Then came a loud bang as a body hit against the walls, groaning.
“Why do you think doors were made for?!” The warlock said as he sat upright and glared at the figure that was now above him. I blinked as I hadn’t noticed Cole moving from above me… did that show how powerful he actually was?
“I thought they were made for decorating houses.” Cole said sarcastically as he smirked down at the male. He looked pretty unharmed; maybe a few burned marks in his clothes but after that… nothing. Unlike Cole, Nathan was a total mess, scratches here and there, his clothes were torn into rags and his hair was made a total mess. Not to mention his right shoe was missing and his left one was half burned.
“It seems you guys had a one-sided battle.” I muttered and chuckled as I felt the sweet feeling of revenge. “Thank you for avenging me, Cole.”
“Didn’t do it for your own good.” Cole muttered as he forced Nathan or so called ‘Nacho’ to stand up and walk towards me. “Now, her strength.” He said.
Finally, Nacho started muttering under his breath and a small circle started forming around me. This time the circle had a blinding white color and once the circle was finished the letters in the circle started going up my body, binding it with me. At first I didn’t feel a thing but not long after strength started slipping into my body and all the pain and tiredness slowly disappeared, leaving a fully healed demon sitting in the ground.
“There you go…” The warlock said as he panted, his skin had the smallest tint of grey and under his eyes there were long bags of black. His hair had actually turned from jet-black into white.
“Now, leave.” Cole said as he let go of the male and smirked down at me. “You owe me one.” He said simply and left the house, followed by Nathan whom disappeared into thin air.
