Kihyun dragged himself into the cafeteria sleepily. He had been able to sleep three hours later after he'd gone to bed last night and it was certainly taking a toll on him. He was moving around like a drunk zombie. He blearily felt someone place their arm under his armpit, helping him walk.

''How're you doing?''

Kihyun opened his eyes to the very familiar face of Hoseok.

''Mmgh,'' he mumbled, making Hoseok giggle. ''I'm good.''

''Yeah, you totally seem like you're okay,'' Hoseok said. ''Nobody would beleve you with those dark circle. How much did you sleep?''

''Why do you care?'' Kihyun complained, shaking Hoseok's arm off of him. ''It's not like we're ten year old BFF's who share every secret with each other... have sleepovers... or whatever.''

''Geez, you take everything so seriously,'' Hoseok rolled his eyes. ''And no, we're not ten year old BFF's. I'm just asking you something, you don't have to be so moody.''

Kihyun immediately retracted his defensive mood upon realizing Hoseok starting to sulk. ''Um, yeah. I slept for two hours.''

They sat at their usual table with the others, Kihyun obviously avoiding eye contact with anyone. He tried to focus on his food but it was fairly hard with ten eyes burning holes in him. He sighed in defeat after a few minutes of awkwardness.

''I'm sorry for yesterday,'' he said, still not looking at them. ''I got a bit worked up yesterday. I didn't really mean the stuff I said.'' he made eye contact with Hyunwoo for a moment and then quickly averted his eyes back to his carrots again.

human teeth are strong enough to bite someone's fingers off as if they were food

Kihyun scrunched up his nose and pushed his food around on the plate, his appetite slowly dispappearing. ''And Hyunwoo, I'm sorry for what I said about Minhyuk.''

but it's our brain that stops us from doing so, this means someone who's insane could easily-

''He isn't crazy!'' Kihyun said, his voice trembling. ''I'm sorry for saying that he is. He's completely normal. Completely sane.''

Nobody said anything. Kihyun's panicked short gasps cut through the silence like a knife would cut through butter.

''...he's not, though,'' Jooheon said reluctantly. ''He's not sane. We were upset with you a little because you said it as if it was his fault.''

''I'm sorry,'' Kihyun apologized. ''I know it isn't his fault, I guess I was a bit confused. Forgive me, please?''

''We don't have anything to forgive you for,'' Changkyun said. ''And even if we did, you made it up for me yesterday plenty.''

Kihyun banged his head on the table. His smile could almost be heard.  ''Thank you.''

''Hey, losers!'' a guard called from the door. ''Get the fuck out. Work out or something.''

''Good meal,'' Hyungwon stood up, Hoseok standing up with him as if on cue.

''Y-yeah,'' Hoseok smiled at Hyungwon. ''Great meal.'' Hyungwon's eyes suddenly lost their dullness. He looked fond as he put his hand on the shorter man's hair but immediately let go after sensing a pair of eyes on  him. He looked away from Hoseok and put his hand in his pockets, his lack of emotions becoming clear to eyes again.

Kihyun stared at him curiously, but the way Hyungwon looked at him seriously creeped him out, so he walked out away from Hoseok and Hyungwon as quickly as possible.

He looked beyond the long walls of the prison dreamily, wishing to walk in the forests for hours, drinking cheap booze, ruining himself, laughing with a beloved.
