''Hey, Changkyun,'' Kihyun called as Changkyun walked towards the seat next to his with his tray. ''Come here, I need to ask something.''
Changkyun didn't make an effort to quicken his steps at all, making the very short-tempered Kihyun frown.
''Come on, before the others come.''
Changkyun finally put down his tray on the table and slumped down next to him. ''What is it?'
Kihyun looked around to ensure they didn't have any eyes on them. Kang Daniel, the guy who's hand had gone victim to Minhyuk's sharp teeth, was staring at them but as soon as he saw that Kihyun had caught him, he averted his eyes back to his meal. Although Kihyun was quiet puzzled, he turned back to Changkyun.
''How did you learn about the crack on the wall?'' he asked as quietly as possible without looking like he was giving out a secret. ''Or more like, who told you?''
Changkyun looked at him inquisitively for a moment, probably wondering why he had asked such a question. But he didn't let Kihyun down.
''Heechul's table,'' he said. ''I learned it from there.''
Kihyun whispered a thanks and got up, leaving Changkyun with the others who were approaching the table.
He knew who Heechul was. Everyone knew him. He had been here for a very, very long time- probably one of the longest. Kihyun had heard he had been here for around thirteen years now but he had never had the chance to talk to him. Now that he had a reason to talk to him, he was delighted.
He stopped right behind him. ''Um, hello,'' he said reluctantly, trying to catch the attention of the man. Heechul turned around at the sudden intrusion.
''Hey kid,'' he said. Kihyun was a bit uncomfortable with all the stares on him. There were five sitting around the table. ''Do I know you?''
''No, you don't,'' Kihyun said. ''I wanted to ask something.''
''Well, go ahead,'' the fat dude sitting next to him said impatiently.
''I wanted to know why there's a dead body outside.''
All of them seemed to freeze at the surprising question. Kihyun waited. It seems like they know about it, Kihyun thought, judging from their horrIified faces.
''How in the fuck did you get out there?'' Heechul asked, his voice almost inaudible.
''Why is there a dead body outside?'' Kihyun repeated. ''I got out because you told my boyfriend. He showed me. I was... quiet shocked when I saw the dead body.''
The man sitting next to the fat guy sighed. ''We didn't tell your friend about it. He overheard our conversation and then forced us to tell him the details.''
''That doesn't change anything,'' Kihyun said. ''Tell me why he's dead and why his corpse is still out there. Did you guys kill him?''
Heechul narrowed his eyes. ''Don't ask too many questions, kid. I'll tell you if you quiet down.''
Kihyun smiled as he took a step closer to them. ''Tell me.''
He knew he was being creepy but he really wanted to know the details. If he did, he could maybe learn something new and maybe it'd result in him getting an idea of some sort. Or at least he hoped, because he definetely wasn't staying in this place for thirty years.
''No, we didn't kill him,'' Heechul started. ''He was actually a friend of ours. His name was Henry. And the one who killed him was also a friend of ours, Kyuhyun. So basically, we found the crack in the wall around six years ago. Kyuhyun and Henry knew about it as well, but Henry had never gotten outside since he was too scared. And he was really easy to trick as well since he was so innocent.''
He sighed. ''Kyuhyun took him to the passage without us knowing. I guess he somehow persuaded him to go out and then closed the opening after he crawled out. We were worried because he wasn't anywhere to be seen for a week. A guy reported that he had seen Kyuhyun and Henry go somewhere together but that Kyuhyun was alone when he was back. So Kyuhyun was interrogated and he confessed- he was executed a few days later.''
Kihyun stayed silent. The others seemed to be grieving. It was a horrible story, but Kihyun couldn't help but realize something.
''Wait, so,'' he said. ''If the passage is closed from the inside, it isn't possible to open it back up?''
Heechul looked at him with a disappointed look. ''Really? That's the only thing you got from this whole thing?''
''Just answer my question!''
''I guess if what Kyuhyun did worked, that must be the case...'' Heechul said. ''...you're smart.''
Kihyun smiled. ''Thank you. Both for the story and the compliment. It helped me lots.''
Heechul nodded. ''It's fine.''
Kihyun was ecstatic. This was exactly the informartion he was looking for. He needed something to experiment with, and now that he had it...
He had an idea.
