Chapter 67.

I was standing in my bathroom at the institute, trying to make my hair look a little less catastrophic. Jace was waiting for me in my room and together, we would get ready for the beat day of my life, my wedding with Magnus. Since a lot of people are saying that sleeping with your soon to be husband/wife before the day of the marriage brings bad luck, Magnus and I decided that I would sleep at the institute and he would sleep alone in his apartment. No one of us really believes in what the mundanes are saying, but just because our marriage is such an important thing to both of us, we didn't dare to take any chances. From what I know, Magnus is going to get ready for the wedding with Raphael and Catarina would also try to be there. I won't lie, I'm dying to see what he looks like in his costume. Magnus Bane truly is the most beautiful person I ever have seen and it doesn't matter what clothes he wears, he's always extremely stunning. When I finally felt satisfied with my hair, I walked back into my room where Jace sat on my bed with his phone in his hands. He was wearing a dark costume that truly brought out his eyes and his hair was already styled nicely. If I never would have met Magnus, I would probably have drooled like crazy by the sight of Jace dressed up like this, but now everything has changed. I found love and happiness in a person that I honestly don't deserve. Magnus has always been so good to me and I still regret every stupid think that I said to him before we got together, but that's somehow the best part. I mean, no matter what things I said to him or how many times I tried to push him away, he never stopped fighting for me. Honestly, I never thought that we would come this far the day he crashed my wedding with Lydia. Fine, I knew that our first kiss in front of everyone that I loved and cared about would shake the ground I'm walking on, but I never thought that I would fall as hard as I did. I love Magnus more than anything and if I'm going to be honest, I don't think I can live without him. He might not be my parabatai like Jace, but he is a part of me and without him, I wouldn't survive.
- You look good, I said and sat down on the bed beside Jace
The towel I had used after I had showered minutes ago was still wrapped around my waste even though my body was fully dry.
- I can't look bad on my brothers wedding, now can I? Jace answered and gave me a smile
- You ain't wrong about that
- I'm really happy for you, Alec. I know how much Magnus means to you and I truly hope that the angels are watching over your relationship, Jace said after a while of silence
- Thank you so much, Jace. I supposed that I'm happy that Clary came into our lives because if it weren't for here, I maybe wouldn't have met Magnus in the first place
- I guess we have Clary to thank for all of this after all
- Yeah, I said and couldn't keep the smile off my face
Jace stood up from the bed after a while and walked over to my closet where he had kept the costume I was going to wear. He took it out and at that moment, I felt like crying. The costume was so beautiful that it made my knees go week even though I still was sitting on the bed. The costume was white, almost like the one I had wore when I was supposed to marry Lydia, but the most outstanding part about the costume was the golden details.
- Wow, I whispered
- I remember when you told me how much you adored Magnus golden cat eyes, so I thought this was the perfect costume for you, Jace said
- Jace, it's beautiful. By the angel, thank you so much
I stoop up and walked over to where have stood and dragged my fingers through the soft material of the costume. It looked even more beautiful up close and the golden details made me tear up because all I could think about when I saw them was Magnus beautiful eyes and how he trusted me enough to show me them. I still remember the first time I saw them. I remember the feeling of pure happiness and honestly, all I wanted to do at that moment was to jump him and never let him go. I know how much hate he has gotten through his life time just because of those eyes, but as long as I'm alive, I'm going to make sure that he knows that those eyes are beautiful.
- Do you want to try it on? Jace asked and gave me a huge smile
- Yeah, I stuttered
Jace gave me the costume and walked back over to the bed where he sat down. Since he has been my adoptive brother for a longer time than I can remember, no one of us really cared about things like privacy, at least not when we changed our clothes. Before dropping my towel to the floor, I put on a pair of boxers and thereafter, I started to get dressed. Seconds later, I stood in front of the mirror in the room and this time, I couldn't keep the tears from coming. Seeing myself in the mirror with the costume on truly made me realise that this was happening. I was finally going to marry the man of my dreams and spend the rest of my life with him. Can it get any better?
- You look amazing, Jace said
I turned around and saw how he was staring with a smile on his lips.
- Thank you, I answered
I could tell that Jace was about to say something, but just as he opened his mouth, a loud knock on my bedroom door was heard. I walked over to the door and as I opened it, I met eyes with Izzy who stood on the other side. She was dressed in a stunning dress that fitted her perfectly and her raven back long hair hung over her shoulders.
- Wow, she said and looked at me
- You look absolutely amazing, I said and kissed her cheek
- Says the guy who looks like a freaking supermodel. I'm so extremely happy for you, Alec. You deserve love and happiness, just like Magnus gives you every day
- Thank you, I answered
I pulled her in for a long comforting hug and only seconds later, I felt how Jace joined the hug too.
- Are you ready to marry the man of your dreams? Izzy asked when we broke the hug after a while
- More than ready, I answered
The three of us left my room and walked together into the great hall of the institute. A lot of people was already there, waiting for the wedding to start. As Maryse saw us walking in, she stood up from the chair that she was sitting on and walked over to us. When she finally had reached us, she pulled us all in for a family hug and honestly, it felt so damn good, especially since I know that my mother truly accepts my relationship with Magnus.
- You have probably heard this from your siblings already, but I'm so happy for you, Maryse said and smiled with tears in her eyes
- Thank you so much, I answered
She gave me on last hug and after that, she walked back to her seat beside Luke and some of his pack members. I could tell that the wedding would begin at any minute, so I placed my hand behind Jace's back and started walking towards the front of the room where silent brother Zachariah stood. I still haven't understood why the silent brothers are helping at ceremonies like this, but I was happy that someone did it. Right, I forgot to tell you all. When a shadowhunter get married, he/she draws a rune on her/his partner and then the other way around, but since Magnus is a warlock, we had to go for plan B. I really don't know how she did it, but somehow Clary managed to make a rune that would be able to get placed on Magnus body without burning his skin. Like I said, I have no idea how she did it and I probably don't even want to know, but I'm beyond happy that she succeeded with it.
- Are you ready? Jace asked and looked me directly into the eyes
- Yes, I answered
- Calm down tiger. Save your yes for Magnus, Jace joked which actually made me let out a quiet chuckle
Everyone that was invited already sat down at their chairs and before I knew it, the music started playing. I turned my attention towards the door and what I saw made me want to scream out loud. Magnus came in with Raphael and Catarina shortly after. Since Magnus didn't have any parents that could leave him over to me, his two friends has insisted that they would do it. As they came closer, I couldn't take my eyes of Magnus no matter how hard I try. I have always thought he was the most beautiful man in the world, but now I truly got my point made. Magnus was wearing a dark costume and just like mine, it had golden details. I would take a wild guess and say that Jace and Catarina had been shopping for costumes together. Magnus raven back hair was looking better than always and his eyes, don't even get me started on his crystal clear eyes that makes my knees go weak. Before I knew it, Magnus stood in front of me and for the second time today, I couldn't keep the tears from coming.
- Hi, Magnus whispered and smiled
- You look amazing, I whispered
- Is that suppose to come from you? He asked and gave me a quick wink
Silent brother Zachariah started talking through his mind like every damn silent brother does, but no one of us was really listening. The only thing we could concentrate on was how we soon was going to share the same last name.
- Since it is your intention to enter into the covenant of holy matrimony, join your right hands, and declare your consent before god and his church, silent brother Zachariah suddenly said which made both me and Magnus break out of our own little world that contained deeply staring at the other
- I, Alexander Gideon Lightwood, take you, Magnus Bane, to be my husband. I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life, I said and smiled at Magnus
- I, Magnus Bane, take you, Alexander Gideon Lightwood, for my lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part, Magnus answered with so much love
- Clarissa Fairchild, the runes, silent brother Zachariah said
I threw a quick look to the side and saw how Clary stood up from her chair and thereafter walked over to where we were standing and pulled out her stele. She walked up to me first so I pulled up the arm on my costume and before I knew it, the marriage rune was shining bright. When she was done with me, Clary turned around and faced Magnus. They smiled at each other and thereafter, Clary started to draw the rune on Magnus arm where he had pulled up his arm on the costume, just like I had done.
- Thank you, Clarissa Fairchild. Now, Alexander Gideon Lightwood, do you take Magnus Bane for your lawful husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part? Zachariah asked
- Yes, I answered
- Magnus Bane, do you take Alexander Gideon Lightwood for your lawful husband to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part? Zachariah repeated and looked at Magnus
- Yes, he answered
- What the hell, just make out already, Jace screamed from his chair which made us all laugh
- I wouldn't want it any other way, I said and before Magnus got the chance to answer, I pressed my lips against his in a passionate kiss
We have kissed many times but I'm proud to say that this truly was our best and do you guys want to know the best part about this kiss? Well, it was our first kiss when we finally share the same last name.
