The next morning I wake up alone in bed. Stretching my arms and legs before I get out of bed, I wonder where the rest slept
My question is quickly answered as I enter the living room and see Ryan sleeping on the couch. Making my way into the kitchen I search the cabinets for coffee, finding it, I fill up the coffee machine and turn it on. As I'm waiting on the coffee Bryson comes into the kitchen
"Morning" he smiles, opening the fridge to get a water bottle out
'Good morning' I smile as he joins me at the kitchen table
"You sleep well?"
'Fine, I had the bed to myself'
"Yeah, Jayden crashed mine, Aiden had his own room and I saw Ryan ended up on the couch" Bryson laughs a little
I notice the coffee pot is half filled so I get up and look for a mug
"The cabinet on your left" Bryson says, opening it, I find multiple mugs
'Thanks' I say and get one out then pour the coffee into the mug 'You want coffee too?'
"Nah I'm good" Bryson says and I sit back at the table after I put some cream and sugar in
We sit in silence and it quickly becomes awkward, I've only seen Bryson a couple of times at parties and sometimes on lunch breaks, even though he's cool and we click, to call him a friend would be an overstatement
"So.." Bryson says
'So..' I repeat, the level of awkwardness rising higher
We really don't have much to talk about
"You know Jayden likes you? Fuck, crap I mean no, that's not what I meant" Bryson rambles
'Well ofcourse he likes me, we wouldn't be friends if he didn't' I say and sip my coffee
"Yeah that's what I meant friends" Bryson smiles
'You're being weird' I give him a questioning look
"I'm always weird" Bryson laughs as Jay walks into the kitchen without saying a word, he grabs a mug and pours himself a coffee before sitting with us at the table
'Morning' I give him a small smile, hoping things between us haven't changed
"Morning sunshine" Jay says but there's no smile on his face
"I'm gonna go take a shower" Bryson says and gets up, walking out of the kitchen leaving me with Jay alone
Should I say something about yesterday?
"Listen, about yesterday, let's just pretend it never happened okay" Jay says
Okay he definetly doesn't like me like that and I definetly read him wrong
'Sorry for kissing you, I shouldn't have done that' I say softly, staring at my coffee
Jayden nods
We sit in silence, drinking our coffee. This is exactly what I didn't want to happen between us. I shouldn't have broken my own rule, I shouldn't have kissed him
"Bryson's having a party tonight" he informs me
'Okay'
"I'm doing the shopping, if you wanna come?" Jay asks
'Sure, I have to get some things for myself too' I say, remembering I have to get the morning after pill
Jay gets up "Okay cool, ready in ten?"
