"It doesn't seem like that," he says. I frown.
"What are you talking about?" I ask.
"Colton was bragging about how he fucked you," Bryce says.
"Why would you believe him?" I ask.
"He said that you went to him after graduation. You told him that you loved him and he comforted you," Bryce tells me.
"You saw how I was at graduation! Do you think that sounds like something I could have done?" It shouldn't be like this.
"I don't know what to think about you anymore, Andy," Bryce says. "I don't know what to believe."
"Believe me. Is that so hard?" I ask. "I went to Colton the night before graduation and I told him that I didn't love him, that I was in love with you, but he didn't believe me. I left and I was on my way to tell you how I felt, but I...I got a call from Ellie's doctor."
"Why would Colton lie to me? He's like a brother to me," he says.
"To tear us apart maybe. I don't know," I say. "Colton's a selfish dick. I wouldn't put anything past him."
"Why are things so hard?" Bryce asks. "They shouldn't be this hard."
"I don't know, Bryce. But I know that I didn't sleep with Colton. I know that I don't love him, "I say, "I know that I'll fight for us. And Bryce, I know that I fucking love you."
Something in his composure breaks and I'm against the wall. His hands are on my waist and his eyes are boring into mine. "I love you much it scares me," I tell him.
"I'm going to spend every day of the rest of my life loving you," Bryce says.
And I believe him.
He kisses me softly, sweetly, urgently, telling me how much he loves me. I thread my hands in his hair. We're finally together and nothing's going to tear us apart.
