After many turns, the walls and floor began to become stone.
"Keep within the stone walls and you will eventually find the Queen."
Baz stopped, forcing our group to halt. The vampire looked at us questionably before Baz tapped his shoulder, a fire crackling to life on his shirt. The vampire shrieked, Baz moving away from the flames.
"Thanks for helping, but your services are no longer needed," Baz said. The last thing we saw was the horrified face of the vampire before he went up in an explosion of ash.
We continued on.
The deeper we went in the tunnels, the stronger the scent of iron became, I think that's what Baz was following. Soft pattering feet made my head twist. A tunnel extended down to the left. In the darkness, shadows moved. I reached into my backpack and pulled out my weapon. I pointed it down the tunnel. By this point, I had gotten the attention of Penny and Baz who had turned to see what I was doing. I pulled the trigger with my finger, a plume of fire shot out from the nozzle, igniting the dark in a quick burst of light. The shadows morphed into humanoid figures, all pushing back from the flames.
"Vampires," I said, adjusting my weapon. The others moved into the opening of the tunnel joining me. Penny lifted her wand, "LIGHT EM UP!" she called, flames filled the narrow space, silent screams swept away like dust in the wind.
"Good spell," Baz said, he turned and headed back down the tunnel. Penny kept her wand lifted, which was a good idea since we were about to be overrun.
