"'Cause you're hot then you're cold
You're yes then you're no
You're in then you're out
You're up then you're down"
I jumped around on the dance floor with my hands in the air. Ah, it feels good to relax! Sadly, we only had two more nights left in this amazing city. Well, one more night now.
"You're wrong when it's right
It's black and it's white
We fight, we break up
We kiss, we make up"
It feels good to let loose again. The past two nights have been dreadful. Filled with worry and crying. Alexis still hasn't returned any of our calls. I hope everything is okay. We even tried to call her mom, but there was no answer. We will be home soon so we can go visit her when she gets back.
I walked over to Garrett who was leaning on a post talking to a girl who randomly showed up. "Hi, baby." He said once he noticed me. He held out his right arm and wrapped it around me.
I snuggled into his side and looked at the girl. The girl looked oddly familiar. I just couldn't put my finger on it.
"Jess, you remember Emma?" Garrett says.
My eyes widen in shock. Emma. Emma Spikes. "Um, hi," I responded bluntly. I remember I bumped into her in the school hallway that one time and she about killed me with one look.
"You are just as pretty as the last time I saw you!" She chuckled, curling a piece of her hair with her finger.
I choked out a fake laugh, "Thanks." I looked down at my outfit. I was wearing a pair of light-washed jean shorts, and a terracotta lace brami, paired with the necklace Garrett had given me. I also had a pair of white converses on.
I hadn't tried to look sexy tonight considering I was so tired. Now that I had stopped dancing, I began to realize how tired I was. I could just go back to the room now and sleep.
"She and her family are in Vegas as well."
"Well obviously, she's here, isn't she?" Jessica now is not the time for your sarcasm to come out.
She laughed. I cringe. It sounded like a hyena. Her laugh was funnier than the joke. "Well, I was just telling Garrett here that I'm going to NYU, so we may bump into each other in the city one day." Her hand rose to his arm, squeezing it lightly.
"God, I hope not," I said to myself.
"Maybe we can catch up one day out there," Garrett suggested.
Oh. My. God. Garrett. Shut. Up. It's already bad enough I'll be living in the same state as her. I can't get away from her. "Babe?" I ask.
"Yes?"
"Can you go get me a drink please?" I ask nicely, feeling the need to be alone with Emma.
"Sure, what do you want?" His smile shines down on me.
I smile back at him, "Hm, a water."
"I'll be right back," he says to both of us and wanders off to the bar.
"So, you two are still together, huh?" She asks once he is out of sight.
"Yeah, what are you doing here?" Completely cutting to the chase.
"Like Garrett said, I'm with family." She plastered a fake smile on her caked face.
"Yeah, and where are they now?"
