04| You Can't Trust Everyone

September 6, 2018

"She wasn't always so guarded. She too, once put on a black cloth around her eyes and allowed someone, she held dear, to guide her. But she kept it on for so long that her heart controlled her mind. When she gained the strength to take off the cloth, it was too late. She didn't just take the misguided shield from her eyes. She took the trust, hope...the love, she held close to heart. Which left her with nothing.."

"Nathan Willams." The pencil that was once in my hand, fell to the ground. His eyes never left mine as his lips fell into a smirk. I broke contact to grab my pencil, but a hand grabbed my wrist. I was yanked to meet her eyes.

"I hope you're happy." Samantha snapped. She cut me off as I began to open my mouth. "You're playing a very dangerous game! For some reason, you picked the ferocious beast that can't be trusted to be on your side!" I follow her eyes to the back of Nathan's head.

"I tried, and I tried. Don't be surprised when you get mauled by the beast, when he doesn't need you anymore." She shoved my wrist away and went back to writing in her notebook. I just stared at her for a while. I can't remember the last time she cared about me to warn me about someone. Why start now? Last time I checked she could stand the thought of me, and now she wants to "protect" me. Bullshit.

Class continued as normal. Well, somewhat normal. I couldn't stop staring at the back of Nathan's head. I tried to pay attention to the lesson but occasionally, my mind would drift off to the questions that won't stop haunting me. Samantha knows something about Nathan...

I need to know what it is before I go looking for Alica with is guy. What if he's trying to hurt Alica? What if Samantha's right about him. Can I even trust him?

"beep."

"beep."

Phones alerts were going off all around the classroom. One by one, everyone started to gasp. Some even cried. "beep." Once I looked at my phone, I couldn't stop the tears that were streaming down my face. I shook my head in disbelief.

"WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU CRYING?" Tommy Wilson screams at me. Tommy and Alica used to be in love with each other. They lasted for two years before they broke up. Alica claimed that she didn't love him anymore. She couldn't bare the thought of lying to Tommy because he was one the closet friend's she had. Well, only close friends. She lied to me. "YOU DID THIS TO HER! YOU'RE A MONSTER!"

The tears kept streaming down my face as I stood up. I felt everyone's eyes on me. I especially felt Nathan's eyes burn holes through my skin. "Are you serious?!" A humorous laugh escaped my lips. "I'M SORRY! HAS EVERYONE FORGOTTEN THAT SHE USED TO BE MY BESTFRIEND?! WHY THE HELL WOULD I WANT TO HURT THE CLOSEST FRIEND I EVER HAD?!

Tommy's eyes softened when he realized his mistake. He opened his mouth to say something but I cut him off, because I knew what he was going to say. "Don't. Just don't. It's too late. Everyone in this school blamed me for something I could never do for months. You never once just thought..." I hiccupped a sob. "Just thought that, "Hey, Sophia has been with Alica all her life. Why would she do such a thing?"

"Now if you don't mind, I'm going to grieve the loss of the girl, you all thought I killed."

With that I grabbed all my things, and left the dead silent room...
