PROMPT NUMBER: three

WHY YOU CHOSE THIS PROMPT: I chose this prompt because it was the first one I got an idea for. Plus, I've always wanted to make a cover for Hush, Hush. It's my pride and joy, lol.

HOW DID YOU MAKE THIS COVER: Whew, was it a long process. There was at least twenty different attempts. I'm not even kidding. I've been trying to get this right for two days—with some breaks in between.

Okay. I started on the app Over by trying to use the actors casted as Patch & Nora—for the upcoming movie—but that failed. I actually tried to add his hand around her waist and it looked like shit. Absolute shit. The pose was completely unnatural and they were sort of just staring at you, not at each other, or even away from the camera. Haha...I'm so glad I removed them.

So the real cover began when I decided to search up 'couple png' and 'black wing png' on Google. Originally, the couple's silhouette was black, but with the background I started with you could barely see them. So I removed the angelic clouds I had in the background then changed the couple's silhouette to a white shadow. I couldn't get the wings to look right so I deleted them. In a way, it worked out, since Patch had been a fallen angel for years and had already lost his wings when the book began.

For hours, I played around with this set up, getting the carnival in the right position and trying to find a place for the quote I wanted to use. I chose a theme park because a lot of the book takes place/focuses on the Delphic. In fact, one of the ways Patch attempted to kill her—it was an illusion—was on this fallen angel themed roller coaster. So yeah. It was a big part of the story.

I had to take about an hour away from the cover for an idea to click. I started to overlay the characters names on top of their figures but quickly refrained when I took another look at the quote. The quote is super romantic and iconic so I couldn't not include it. So I thought it would be cool to overlay it onto their bodies instead. Then, I used the swirls from the capital letter 'H' and hooked them with the two words that connect their bodies.

The last thing I did on Over was add my username and make the background below the theme park darker.

Then I hoped on over to PicsArt and added a faded picture of feathers over the title to help hint that the story involves angels. Of course, I couldn't stop there, so I flipped through the filters until I found BLH3. I played around with its settings until it didn't look too blue. Then boom. I was done. And believe it or not, I left out a lot of the process.
