I walked up to the door and rang the bell. I was eager to surprise him. I had brought all the essentials for the perfect movie night. Pizza, popcorn, and horror and action movies. It was all for him; Connor Jones. My boyfriend. I loved that word, boyfriend. And I loved calling Connor my boyfriend.
I stood on the porch, waiting. The door swung open shortly and I smiled at him. I had been expecting a smile, or maybe even a look of surprise but instead he just looked...terrified? And then somewhat annoyed.
"What are you doing here?" His question was abrupt and straight to the point.
"I thought we could spend some time together," I smiled nervously.
"Why didn't you call?" He asked.
"I'm sorry, I just wanted to surprise you. Are you busy? Am I disturbing you?" I questioned.
"Kinda." He scratched the back of his neck.
"Oh, okay then. I'll see you at school," I said awkwardly and turned around to leave but the door opened again.
"What are you doing out there honey?" A high pitched voice asked.
I turned around. A girl with platinum blonde hair and wide blue eyes stood at the doorway, looking at me and him. She stepped out and walked towards him. She placed her skinny arm around his waist and reached up to kiss him. I had to look away. When they both came up for air, she finally noticed me.
"Oh! You must be the pizza delivery girl!" She exclaimed. "But you're out of uniform." She wrinkled her nose at my clothes but grabbed the warm pizza out of my hands and chucked a few bills at me. I wanted to yell at her, telling her it was my pizza but I didn't. I just watched her flounce back inside. I turned to look at him. He wouldn't meet my eyes.
"It wasn't working out." I should have said something. Called him an asshole. Told him that I had wasted my time on him. But I didn't. I simply nodded. He went inside and shut the door. I turned back towards my car.
I had lost two things today. My boyfriend. And my pizza.
